Job Summary of Deli Counter Representative:

The key focus is on providing an outstanding customer experience while aiding the Deli Counter Representative in the day-to-day operation of the Appy/Deli Department. Keeping the department visually appealing, clean, and tidy is essential, as is performing assigned tasks in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with company policies.

Qualifications of Deli Counter Representative:

• Competence in reading, writing, speaking, analyzing, interpreting, and comprehending English proficiently.
• Aptitude for performing primary arithmetic tasks.
• The capability to operate various equipment within the department, such as slicers, scales, can openers, wrapping machines, rotisseries, fryolators, cheese graters/cutters, case cutters, and stoves/ovens, is a key requirement.
• Ability to endure standing, bending, twisting, stretching, pushing, pulling, and regularly carrying 25 pounds, and occasionally lifting 50 pounds.
• Skill in working in temperatures that are subject to change.
• Proficiency in working with fresh, dried, or processed products, spices, and powdered materials without experiencing any allergic issues.
• Competence in enduring dust and cleaning products while fulfilling daily housekeeping tasks.
• Competence to stand and ambulate throughout the prescribed hours of duty.
• Aptitude for interacting with customers in a pleasant and helpful manner.
• Proficiency in engaging in collaborative teamwork.
• Skill to work all assigned shifts and comply with time management policies.

Responsibilities of Deli Counter Representative:

• Use a slicing machine and its related apparatus.
• Replenish Appy/Deli product.
• Set up the Appy/Deli product for selling.
• Observe recommended steps for receiving, labeling with codes, preparing, storing, marking prices, arranging, and restocking products to maintain accuracy, quality, and product rotation protection.
• Adhere to Company policies for addressing damaged and spoiled items and assist in monitoring the quantity of impaired merchandise.
• Update the manager or other appointed team members on any low inventory conditions or spoilage issues.
• Maintain the proper stock levels and presentation of salad bowls and other exhibits in adherence to departmental guidelines.
• Continuously evaluate refrigeration equipment to ensure it is performing adequately; report any breakdowns promptly.
• Follow the required procedures for utilizing and preserving equipment within the department and report any equipment difficulties without delay.
• Establish and uphold a clean, orderly, and safe work environment to protect the well-being of employees.
• Move shipments from trucks and transport items to the Appy/Deli Department, lifting products that weigh around 25 lbs but occasionally up to 50 lbs.
• Regularly maneuver and transport items that are 25 lbs in weight, with occasional items weighing 50 lbs.
• Comprehend and adhere to the Company's standards for managing shrinkage in the Appy/Deli Department's activities.
• Always operate machinery with all safety safeguards in position and in optimal working state.
• Ensure the observance of safety measures during the execution of tasks.
• Comply with Department of Sanitation and QA requirements when sanitizing work surfaces, utensils, and equipment to uphold cleanliness standards.
• Maintain a clear floor space by promptly addressing spills and removing debris.
• Check that the product delivered corresponds to the information documented on the invoice.
• Execute the product order according to the department manager's specifications.
• Move litter to the designated garbage disposal point.
• Take out cardboard materials for the baler and manage the baler's functioning.
• Make amendments to pricing as directed by the Department Manager.
• Presents products in a visually appealing, inviting, and colorful showcase.
• Confirm the prices and have a good grasp of the location of items in the store.
• Invite customers to take part in the charitable sales promotions that are currently being offered.
• Stay on your feet at the work station for the entirety of the assigned shift, which could exceed 8 hours each day.
• Being proficient in recognizing different types of merchandise involves understanding the diverse tastes, preparation methods, and price differentials that exist within similar classes of products.
• Oversee the availability of cleaning supplies and disinfectants, and notify the supervisor when stocks are low in adherence to the established procedures.
• Perform all tasks aligning with the Local, State, and Federal guidelines concerning the Appy/Deli operations.
• Carry out assigned tasks in alignment with Company rules, policies, safety standards, and security protocols, while also ensuring compliance with health and civil code regulations imposed by Local, State, and Federal authorities.
• Abide by the Company's dress code and grooming standards, which encompass wearing the approved uniform, prominently showcasing a name badge, and using appropriate hair restraints such as hats.
• Adhere to QA regulations regarding hand washing procedures and make use of disposable gloves when handling food.
• Undertake responsibilities aligned with the Company's HAZCOM protocol and observe the manufacturer's label directions for the proper and secure deployment of chemical goods.
• Successfully finish all departmental training sessions.
• Conduct all actions in accordance with ShopRite's focus on Safety, Friendliness, Presentation, and Efficiency.
• Consistently attend appointments and events promptly and without delay.
• Comply with overtime expectations as given.
• Collaborate harmoniously with others.
• The operation of balers, hi-lo machines, power jacks, and slicers is limited to those aged 18 and above.
• Complete any other tasks as designated.
