Job Summary of Dairy Department Assistant:

As a Dairy Department Assistant, you will work closely with the Dairy/Frozen Manager to keep the department running smoothly and profitably. Your tasks include stocking and rotating dairy and frozen products, maintaining freshness and availability, and keeping displays neat and appealing. You’ll also handle deliveries, verify expiration dates, organize merchandise, and make sure pricing and labels are accurate.

• Dealing with specific orders and staying connected throughout the process.
• Retail display shelving, endcap features, and engaging exhibit showcases.
• Aiding in overseeing and actively participating in tagging, showcasing, rearranging, cleaning, marking down, restocking, and managing additional stock.
• Ensuring the training and task assignments of department personnel are followed through and completed effectively.
• During active demonstrations, presenters actively seek feedback and answer questions, while passive demos are more focused on displaying the product features.
• Partnering with the department managers to deal with performance-related issues within the department.
• Providing support for the opening and closing procedures of the store, including responsibilities like compiling the Daily Sales Report (DSR), managing cash transactions, and ensuring completion of cashier closeout tasks.
• Managing register duties involves overseeing backup cashier responsibilities, processing customer refunds, resolving customer grievances, and handling register shift substitutions, which may include covering breaks.
• Upholding the safety and security of customers and employees.
• Handling customer questions while following established company protocols, which may involve using health-oriented phrases or emphasizing nutritional benefits.
• Perpetually growing expertise in products.
• Integrating the use of SAP and inventory management software, along with email correspondence and other IS tools as needed.
• The job entails following a schedule that aligns with the store's needs, including availability during evenings, weekends, and holidays. Employees are required to work five days a week, totaling 40 hours, and be present at necessary store meetings.
• The role has a set of manager on duty responsibilities that do not encompass overseeing the store's overall operations.

Qualifications of Dairy Department Assistant:

• It is preferable for candidates to have a high school diploma, GED, or an equivalent certification.
• A year of prior experience in a grocery or retail setting is desired, with a preference for individuals who have knowledge of natural foods.
• Supervisory background of at least one year preferred.
• Adhering to legal mandates by passing essential food safety training courses and certifications and ensuring ongoing compliance by keeping certifications current and registered as needed.
• Excelling in the management of dynamic priorities and concentration on present obligations.
• Foster a sense of immediacy in task execution to enhance productivity.

• Extremely methodical with a keen eye for specifics.

Physical requirements of Dairy Department Assistant:

• Must have the ability to constantly lift or carry up to 10 lbs., frequently lift or carry 11-20 lbs., and occasionally lift or carry 21-50 lbs. Must also have the ability to occasionally lift or carry 51-100 lbs. with a team lift.
