Role and Responsibilities:
As the Floor Operations Assistant, you will support the FSQA Team Leader in supervising the FSQA team and ensuring overall quality controls at the metro food production facility, including sanitation and safety standards.
- Partner with the FSQA Team Leader to manage the day-to-day activities of the FSQA team, which involves assigning tasks, offering guidance and training, ensuring compliance with FSQA standards, and upholding safety protocols.
- Help in organizing quality assurance programs and procedures to maintain the standard and consistency of products.
- Uphold the compliance with quality regulations and specifications for raw materials, materials being processed, and finished items.
- Help in supervising the environmental monitoring process and other swabbing activities as needed to follow the GMP, HACCP, and FSMA guidelines.
- Supervise the maintenance of Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs) and make frequent modifications as dictated by business necessities or the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), which may also require cross-training Team Members on SSOPs.
- Help leadership in managing the Pest Control Program effectively.
- Abide by and enforce established guidelines, covering aspects like health, sanitation, and safe work practices.
- Make sure to have accurate and updated documentation and records of all quality assurance and food safety activities, including daily audits to validate compliance.
- Be prepared to handle food safety crises, including product recalls, contamination incidents, and other emergencies.
- Work with the FSQA Team Leader to conduct interviews, select candidates, provide training, support development, and offer guidance to Team Members, ensuring the team's high performance and decreased turnover.
- Partner with the FSQA Team Leader and Team Member Services to handle Team Member relations matters, which involves documenting incidents appropriately, investigating thoroughly, and implementing corrective actions.
- Uphold an extensive understanding of and ensure alignment with essential regulatory rules and standards, encompassing OSHA, USDA, State Agriculture Departments, HACCP, FSMA, ADA, Department of Labor guidelines, Health and Sanitation regulations, FDA requirements, and Weights and Measures directives.
- Extend leadership assistance in handling quality concerns from both internal and external origins, including customer feedback and regulatory standards like USDA and FDA.
- Implement the regulations set by Whole Foods Market, as well as the guidelines designated by the USDA and the HACCP program, and establish a cooperative partnership with the USDA inspector.
- Help the FSQA Team Leader in addressing and resolving team concerns or issues to maintain team harmony.
- Create an environment that fosters exceptional teamwork and reciprocal respect among colleagues.
Required Skills and Experience:
- The suitable qualifications for this position include a degree in food science, microbiology, food technology, or a related field, or an equivalent amount of education and FSQA experience gained in a food manufacturing facility.
- Over 18 months of hands-on experience in FSQA facility functions in food production settings, alongside six months of supervisory FSQA practice within food manufacturing.
- Familiarity with the comprehensive spectrum of food safety regulations at local, state, and federal levels.
- Skill in executing and managing food safety and quality assurance protocols.
- Competent in overseeing internal and external audits and inspections to validate compliance with food safety and quality requirements.
- Proficiency in analyzing data obtained from quality evaluations, audits, and inspections to recognize trends, deviations, and areas for enhancement.
- Employing a meticulous eye for detail to uphold compliance with food safety and quality standards and identify possible risks.
- Shows proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint usage, with an ability to adapt and acquire knowledge in proprietary applications.
- Fundamental awareness of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) protocols applied in food manufacturing.
- Effective in working with a team, motivated by internal drive, and competent in operating independently with little supervision.
- Adjusting one's work hours to suit the facility's needs, which may include weekends, holidays, and night shifts, is a key requirement for this position.
- Capability to establish strong partnerships with key stakeholders, comprising team members, customers, suppliers, and regulators.

Compensation and Benefits:
The wage range for this position is $27.00 - $45.50 hourly, commensurate with experience. Whole Foods Market offers “Whole Benefits.”
