Role and Responsibilities:

As a Grocery Store Associate at Giant Food, you will ensure shelves are consistently stocked, organized, and presentable to deliver a superior shopping experience. You will work efficiently across various departments including produce, dairy, frozen, and general grocery, contributing to a smooth, customer-focused store operation.

• Restock shelves, displays, and endcaps with products to maintain inventory levels.
• Follow FIFO (First In, First Out) guidelines to ensure product freshness and quality.
• Check that all products are correctly labeled and priced.
• Set up and maintain promotional displays and signage according to management instructions.
• Assist customers in locating products and provide helpful information.
• Provide friendly, knowledgeable service to enhance the shopping experience.
• Address minor customer concerns or escalate issues to a supervisor as needed.
• Keep all work areas clean and organized, including shelves, floors, and spill zones.
• Maintain backroom and storage areas in an orderly manner.
• Report low-stock or out-of-stock items to management promptly.
• Participate in scheduled inventory counts and audits.
• Inspect product dates and remove expired or damaged items from shelves.
• Collaborate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments.
• Provide support in other departments as assigned by store leadership.
• Help maintain overall store operations and contribute to a cooperative team environment.

Required Skills and Experience:

• At least 16 years of age (18 years for certain departments).
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.
• Previous experience in retail or grocery environments is a plus but not required.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and carry items up to 50 lbs.
• Comfortable working in refrigerated areas such as dairy and frozen sections.
• Available to work flexible shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Basic math and reading comprehension skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in grocery, retail, or customer-facing roles.
• Familiarity with inventory management or merchandising processes.
• Proven ability to work effectively within a team environment.
