Being a Grocery Stock Clerk entails prioritizing customer service excellence and actively participating in maintaining the Grocery Department's merchandise through pricing, stocking, facing, and rotating items. You are entrusted with the task of promoting a tidy, secure, and systematic setting while overseeing inventory quantities and upholding adherence to organizational guidelines and safety measures for the Grocery Department's efficient functioning.
Responsibilities of Grocery Stock Clerk:
- Uphold a workspace that is clean, well-maintained, and structured to prioritize safety.
- Adhere to sanitation and QA protocols when sanitizing work areas and machinery.
- Maintain unobstructed and clean floor surfaces at all times.
- Extend a friendly reception to every patron and give them immediate, respectful service and help.
- Ensure compliance with safety guidelines when utilizing tools.
- Maintain shelves and displays with a constant supply of products and a neat presentation.
- Ensure that discount products are clearly marked to enhance sales promotion.
- Observe endorsed methods for receiving, dating with codes, storing, and labeling merchandise with prices.
- Follow Company protocols for managing spoiled or restockable goods.
- Keep track of pricing variations and have a good understanding of where products are situated within the store.
- Make the most of CGO technology and handheld devices to manage inventory and place orders for replenishment when required.
- Adhere to Company protocols when recording markdowns, spoilage, and utilization of goods within the establishment.
- Ensure that you follow the appropriate rotation guidelines and keep a close check on the sell-by dates, especially for perishable goods.
- Oversee the organization, tidiness, and preparedness of the grocery storage area for the upcoming shift.
- Remove items from trucks and securely place them in specified storage locations with the help of carts, U-boats, and jacks.
- Implement the prescribed criteria for the construction and appearance of structures and fronts as per the Company's specifications.
- Ensure price tags are current and make modifications as required.
- Ensure the safe operation of equipment including balers, compactors, and hand jacks.
- Inform the Department Manager or Store Management right away if there are any issues with the equipment.
- Adhere to the Company's shrink protocols and inventory monitoring procedures.
- Aid the Department Manager in managing day-to-day duties and facilitating teamwork within the department.
- Comply with regulations at the local, state, and federal levels that pertain to the functioning of grocery businesses.
- Follow the Company's guidelines on grooming and dressing, which involve complying with the prescribed uniform and displaying the name badge.
- Follow the established QA protocols for hand hygiene and utilize gloves while working with food products.
- Participate in and complete all department-specific training programs.
- Carry out all tasks in alignment with ShopRite's service principles: Safety, Friendliness, Presentation, and Efficiency.
- Stay in the department for the entire duration of the assigned shift, which might extend past 8 hours.
- Ensure you are punctual and attend on a regular basis.
- Stay beyond regular working hours as directed.
- Engage in productive teamwork with others.
- Carry out any other tasks as instructed.
Qualifications of Grocery Stock Clerk:
- Must be 18 years or older to operate balers, hi-lo's, power jacks, and slicing machines.
- Ability to read, write, speak, analyze, interpret, and understand English proficiently.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations.
- Ability to stand and walk for the entire duration of a scheduled shift.
- Ability to bend, twist, reach, push, pull, and regularly lift 25 lbs., and occasionally lift up to 60 lbs.
- Ability to work with fresh, dried, or processed food products and spices without allergic reactions.
- Ability to tolerate cleaning agents and dust as part of routine duties.
- Ability to climb ladders to access overhead racking or storage areas.
- Ability to interact with customers in a friendly and helpful way.
- Ability to work cooperatively with team members and follow all scheduling and attendance policies.
