Job Summary of Grocery Stock Assistant:
The primary duty of Grocery Stock Assistant is to ensure that the grocery department's shelves and displays are always replenished, orderly, and managed efficiently to ensure customer satisfaction. They also play a crucial role in helping customers locate items and delivering courteous and effective service.
Responsibilities of Grocery Stock Assistant:
- Assist with unloading, stocking, and organizing grocery items on shelves and displays.
- Transport stock for storage to the sales floor.
- Open cartons and price items (if needed) accurately and according to company guidelines.
- Keep store shelves fully stocked and organized according to tag allocations.
- Assist in building store displays, end displays, wing displays, and wall of value displays.
- Keep perishable merchandise rotated and pull out-of-code product as needed.
- Control level of damaged goods by properly handling merchandise.
- Properly present assigned section prior to leaving at the end of scheduled work shift and check out with the manager in charge.
- Observe policies and procedures established for each department.
- Greet customers who come into the store and be observant while on the sales floor.
- Maintain a neat appearance according to the company's dress code policy.
- Abid by all company policies as stated in the Employee Handbook.
- Maintenance of price and protection program.
- Housekeeping of sales and back room areas.
- Assist with front-end service when needed.
- Retrieve carts and safely place them at the front of the store, as needed.
Qualifications of Grocery Stock Assistant:
- Proficiency in reading and writing to correctly label merchandise, monitor inventory levels, and oversee the systematic movement of products.
- Skill in unloading, transferring, and placing products in designated spots.
- Able to carry loads up to 70 pounds for a portion of work time, totaling 40%.
- Having the capacity to access and place merchandise on the upper racks in the grocery aisles is crucial for maintaining proper storage procedures. The top racking activity could make up approximately 20% of the time spent working in the aisles during the shift.
- Aptitude for understanding and executing written and oral commands.
- The ability to maintain a standing position is a fundamental requirement during your typical work hours.
