Produce Specialist

Role and Responsibilities:

The Produce Specialist ensures the produce section is fresh, organized, and welcoming to customers while maintaining high-quality standards. You will support smooth department operations and provide exceptional customer service.

• Greet customers and assist them with selecting produce while providing product information.
• Set up and maintain attractive displays of fruits and vegetables.
• Stock and rotate inventory, removing any damaged or expired items to maintain freshness.
• Verify accurate pricing and labeling for all produce items.
• Receive deliveries and inspect items to ensure they meet quality standards.
• Monitor inventory levels and report restocking needs promptly.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.
• Keep the department and storage areas clean and organized.
• Collaborate with team members, management, and other departments.
• Assist in training new produce clerks or team members as needed.
• Support other departments during peak times or as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Customer-focused with a commitment to delivering exceptional service.
• Basic knowledge of fruits and vegetables and willingness to learn more.
• Physical ability to lift and move items up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
• Attention to detail to maintain cleanliness and organization standards.
• Team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Reliable, proactive, and strong work ethic.
• Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Minimum age: 18 years.

Preferred Qualifications:

• No prior produce experience required; grocery or retail experience is a plus.
• Basic math skills for pricing and handling cash transactions.

Compensation and Benefits:

• Hourly wage: $15.00 - $17.00, based on experience and location.
