Job Summary of Dry Goods Stock Associate:
The Dry Goods Stock Associate supports the Grocery/Bulk and Dairy/Frozen Managers in ensuring the smooth operation and profitability of their departments. This role includes maintaining, organizing, and restocking the bulk foods area to keep it clean, well-presented, and fully stocked for customers
Responsibilities of Dry Goods Stock Associate:
- Placing a high priority on delivering exceptional customer experiences.

- Building engaging and fully stocked areas that facilitate seamless shopping experiences.
- Assisting department managers in ordering groceries, bulk items, dairy products, and frozen goods, and ensuring inventory levels are accurately maintained.
- Aiding department managers in the effective management of margin, COGs, and department profitability by minimizing shrink and enhancing the efficiency of procurement.
- Verifying that all in-stock items/conditions meet the required company standards.
- Offering and then following through with special requests.
- The use of merchandising shelves, endcaps, and attractive displays.
- Aiding in overseeing and engaging in tagging, displaying, rearranging, keeping clean, marking down, restocking, and storing extra items.
- Facilitating the training and monitoring of department personnel by assigning tasks and ensuring compliance.
- Demonstrating actively and passively.
- Partnering with department heads to address and rectify performance issues in the department.
- Contributing to the opening and closing procedures of the store, involving responsibilities such as organizing the Daily Sales Report (DSR) and supervising cash transactions, as well as managing cashier closeout tasks.
- Performing various duties related to working the cash register, such as acting as a backup cashier, processing customer returns, handling customer complaints, and managing register shift changes, including coverage for scheduled breaks.
- Securing the safety and well-being of both customers and staff.
- Adhering to company guidelines when responding to customer queries, incorporating statements that promote health and nutrition in a manner consistent with established standards.
- Always seeking to deepen product knowledge.
- Employing SAP integrated with inventory management software, and utilizing email and other information systems software as necessary.
- The position demands availability for shifts based on the store's requirements, potentially including evenings, weekends, and holidays. It involves a regular schedule of five days weekly, with a workload of 40 hours, and mandatory attendance at store meetings.
- This position carries a few manager on duty responsibilities but is not intended to fulfill the main manager on duty role for the store.
Qualifications of Dry Goods Stock Associate:
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent preferred.
- 1 year of experience in grocery or retail environment preferred; natural foods background is a plus.
- 1 year of experience supervising others preferred.
- Ability to pass food safety training courses and/or certifications as required by law and maintain compliance by keeping certifications up to date and registered if applicable.
- Ability to manage changing priorities and to stay focused with the task at hand.
- Possess a sense of urgency in the completion of tasks.
- Possess excellent customer service skills.
- Highly organized with great attention to detail.
- Ability to take direction and follow through.
- Must be cashier trained and able to count currency.
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Outlook
