Cart Attendant

Job Summary of Cart Attendant:

As a Cart Attendant at ShopRite, your main responsibility is to ensure an exceptional customer experience by retrieving and returning carts from the parking lot and providing assistance to customers with their shopping as needed. This position plays a vital role in maintaining the smooth operation of the front-end activities while emphasizing cleanliness, organization, and top-notch customer service.

Responsibilities of Cart Attendant:

• Collect empty shopping carts from designated areas in the parking lot and return them to the store’s cart holding areas.
• Maintain a clean, neat, organized, and safe work/shopping environment both inside and outside the store.
• Remove debris from carts before returning them to the store.
• Assist customers with loading groceries into their vehicles when requested.
• Greet all customers and provide them with prompt, courteous service and assistance.
• Handle damaged or return-to-stock products according to company policy, with attention to perishable items and expiration dates.
• Promote for sale any current charitable campaigns to customers.
• Check prices and be knowledgeable about the location of products in the store.
• Report any equipment issues or hazards to management immediately.
• Dress and groom according to company policy, including wearing the required uniform, name badge, and hair restraint if applicable.
• Perform duties in accordance with QA hand washing standards and use gloves when handling food.
• Follow all local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to the front-end operation.
• Understand and follow all company rules, policies, safety standards, and sanitation procedures.
• Utilize and maintain equipment as required by the department.
• Perform all duties in accordance with ShopRite service priorities: Safety, Friendliness, Presentation, and Efficiency.
• Stand and walk for the duration of scheduled shift, which may exceed 8 hours per day.
• Regularly lift, push, pull, and rotate merchandise up to 25 lbs., and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
• Maintain punctual and regular attendance.
• Work overtime as assigned.
• Work cooperatively with others and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications of Cart Attendant:

• Individuals must be at least 18 years old to handle balers, hi-los, power jacks, and slicing machines.
• Proficiency in the English language involves the capability to comprehend, express, analyze, and interpret written and verbal communication effectively.
• Proficiency in executing fundamental arithmetic operations.
• Being able to maintain a standing position, bending, twisting, reaching, and exerting force during the duration of the work period.
• Capacity to perform tasks outside amidst changing weather conditions for extended durations.
• Capacity to engage with clients in a cordial and supportive approach.
• Capacity to endure dust and household cleaning products while performing regular cleaning tasks.
• Capable of adhering to assigned work schedules and following all time and attendance guidelines.
