Role and Responsibilities:
The Bakery Helper supports daily bakery operations by preparing, packaging, and presenting fresh baked goods. This role emphasizes food safety, high-quality products, and delivering exceptional customer service. Key responsibilities include:
Customer Service (60%): Create a friendly and inviting environment to build customer loyalty; maintain product freshness and availability; provide product information, samples, and suggestions; accurately fulfill special orders.
Leadership (20%): Encourage teamwork, open communication, and trust; ensure compliance with company policies and applicable state and federal regulations.
Financial (10%): Monitor inventory and report any discrepancies; inspect and rotate products to ensure freshness; prepare, label, package, and display bakery items; use planning tools to reduce waste; maintain accurate food safety and temperature records.
Compliance & Safety (10%): Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines; adhere to USDA, DOA, and COOL labeling requirements; manage recalls and product withdrawals appropriately; report hazards or incidents; ensure safe use of bakery equipment and PPE; assist with unsafe equipment remediation.
Required Skills and Experience:
Minimum age of 18 years.
Authorization to work in the U.S.
Proficient in reading, writing, and understanding English.
Successful completion of pre-employment drug screening and background check.
Strong customer service and communication abilities.
Ability to safely operate bakery equipment including slicers, ovens, scales, knives, and pricing tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED.
Spanish language proficiency.
0–3 years of experience in retail, bakery, or food service.
Proven integrity, reliability, and teamwork mindset.
Physical & Environmental Requirements:
Physical Demands: Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 35 lbs; occasional climbing up to 10 ft; pulling up to 250 lbs with carts or pallet jacks; repetitive hand and foot movements; use of sight, hearing, and smell.
Work Conditions: Exposure to hot, cold, or humid environments; slippery surfaces; loud noise; sharp tools; hazardous equipment; occasional exposure to fumes, cleaning chemicals, dust, and allergens.
Flexible shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Occasional travel; no overnight stays required.
