Job Summary of Pharmacy Counter Associate:
The key task is to enhance customer experience through cash register support, customer service provision, restocking activities, and cleanliness maintenance to ensure the Pharmacy Department operates smoothly.
Qualifications of Pharmacy Counter Associate:
- Applicants must be of legal adult age (18 years or above) and should possess the required state licensing or certifications.
- Adeptness in English signifies the capability to read, write, speak, comprehend, interpret, and analyze the language proficiently.
- Proficiency in executing essential mathematical equations.
- Necessity to constantly stand and move around for the entirety of an allocated work time.
- Ability to stand, bend, twist, reach, push, pull and regularly lift 25 lbs., and occasionally lift 50 lbs.
- Proficiency in adjusting to different temperature conditions.
- Ability to bear dust and chemical elements encountered in the course of routine housekeeping duties.
- Ability to interact with Customers in a friendly and helpful way. Ability to work cooperatively with others.
- Competence in working all assigned shifts and following policies about timeliness and attendance.
- Competency in efficiently using all essential computer hardware and software is vital. Being ready to work overtime when requested is mandatory. Upholding the confidentiality of information is key.

Responsibilities of Pharmacy Counter Associate:
- The Associate must meet the minimum qualifications stated above to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
- Ensure all patrons are greeted warmly and receive timely, respectful service and assistance.
- Make sure the sales of prescriptions are accurately logged.
- Precisely gather correct payments and offer exact change in a timely fashion. Abide by the guidelines set forth by the State Board of Pharmacy, HIPAA, the Drug Enforcement Agency, and the Food and Drug Administration to ensure compliance with State and Federal drug laws.
- Adhere to security protocols to protect the Pharmacy Department.
- Adhere to a code of professionalism and confidentiality in all patient-related matters and handling of health records.
- Respond to phone calls in a friendly and efficient manner. Collect prescription details from patients or customers and verify personal information like name, address, telephone number, date of birth, allergies, and insurance information as part of the process.
- Support the Pharmacist by organizing and restocking pharmaceuticals as required. Guide Customers in locating over-the-counter merchandise. Possess knowledge about the products available in the Department.
- Successfully engage in the HIPAA Privacy and Security training programs to grasp the operations of digital processing machinery and differentiate between diverse image categories and linked products.
- Keep the work environment safe and tidy by adhering to Sanitation and Quality Assurance standards when cleaning and sanitizing work surfaces, tools, and equipment.
- Keep the floor free of obstructions and spills to create a safe environment.
- Adhere to the procedures outlined in the Company's HAZCOM program and strictly adhere to the manufacturer's label instructions for the secure and correct application of chemical products.
- Adhere to departmental regulations for equipment handling and care; immediately report any equipment malfunctions.
- Engage in the regular handling, moving, pushing, and turning of merchandise weighing 25 lbs., with occasional weights up to 50 lbs.
- Stand at work station for duration of scheduled shift, which may exceed 8 hours per day.
- Acquaint yourself with store pricing and item organization. Advertise charitable promotions to Customers. Grasp and adhere to Company regulations on reducing shrinkage in department processes.
- Fulfill all tasks adhering to Pharmacy operation regulations defined by Local, State, and Federal laws, following Company rules, safety standards, and security guidelines, as well as adhering to health and civil code regulations at various levels of government. Complete all relevant departmental training sessions.
- Execute all responsibilities aligning with ShopRite's Service Priorities Safety, Friendliness, Presentation, and Efficiency.
- Collaborate with coworkers to achieve common goals. Complete any other tasks as assigned.
