Role and Responsibilities:

Whole Foods Market is searching for candidates to undertake the position of Meat Specialist, which involves the responsibilities of cutting, preparing, displaying, and selling meat products, all while ensuring exceptional customer service and compliance with food safety protocols. Furthermore, you will be expected to assist the team by providing guidance, mentoring others, and actively participating in store initiatives.

• Trim, serve, and advertise meat varieties including beef, pork, lamb, veal, and poultry.
• Make specialty meat products such as sausages, oven-safe items, and cured meats.
• Inspect items to guarantee they meet Whole Foods Market's quality expectations.
• Support sampling activities to deter spoilage occurrences.
• Help and encourage designated individuals in their journey to become successful Meat Cutters.
• Deliver excellent customer support, promptly cater to customer needs, and exemplify effective suggestive selling approaches.
• Enhance sales performance by following meticulous prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising methodologies.
• Ensure compliance with health, sanitation, Weights and Measures, and safety regulations.
• Sustain a hygienic work and retail environment and adhere to equipment maintenance standards.
• Undertake opening, midday, and closing tasks, ensuring the precision of signs and pricing.
• Notify promptly regarding any safety hazards and deviations from regulations.
• Undertake supplementary duties as assigned by store, regional, or national leadership.

Required Skills and Experience:

• A history of over a year in the retail sector.
• Fulfilling the demands of the Whole Foods Market Butcher Apprentice Program, or a similar educational module, is mandatory for inclusion (exceptions could apply in the UK).
• Proficiency in the methods and protocols followed by the meat department.
• Exhibiting excellent cutting proficiency, particularly in the skill of separating product into sub-primal and retail segments.
• Extensive comprehension of various meat and seafood cuts as well as cooking techniques.
• Expertise in visually scrutinizing products for freshness and quality.
• Proficiency in communication and teamwork dynamics.
• Effective time planning, strong organizational competence, and skill in following directions and procedures accurately.
• Love for organic foods and Whole Foods Market's vision.
• Capability to perform effectively under pressure in a fast-paced work environment.
• Comprehension of and alignment with the quality benchmarks of Whole Foods Market.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Hands-on experience in mentoring and training team members.
• The proficiency in accessing and transmitting information about market conditions to clients.

Compensation and Benefits:

This position offers a wage range of $18.50 to $30.20 per hour, commensurate with experience and based on a standard 40-hour work week. Whole Foods Market provides a holistic benefits package termed Whole Benefits, encompassing a possibility of:
