Job Summary of Produce Support Associate:

The primary task of the Produce Support Associate is to help the Produce Manager in running the produce department smoothly and profitably.

Responsibilities of Produce Support Associate:

• Giving top priority to providing world-class customer service.
• Practicing honesty, responsibility, and excellence while adhering to all guidelines.
• Creating a vibrant and convenient produce department that offers a multitude of fresh options for customers to explore and select from.
• Backing up the produce department manager in organizing orders and maintaining precise inventory levels.
• Assisting the department manager in overseeing margin, COGs, and department profitability, focusing on minimizing waste and optimizing procurement methods.
• Managing the department's daily activities includes the essential duty of guaranteeing the availability of a fresh, full, and abundant selection of produce throughout the day.
• Handpicking, improving the condition, twisting, and correctly organizing produce.
• Confirming the purchase and delivery of solely organically certified fruits and vegetables.
• Validating that all items currently in stock adhere to the company's prescribed standards.
• Ensuring tools and equipment are sanitized in compliance with regulations from both the health department and the company.
• Processing all incoming orders for produce as outlined by the company's standards and policies.
• Addressing individualized orders and their follow-up.
• Assisting in the training and tracking of department employees.
• Showing dynamic and static demonstrations.
• Cooperating with the department head to address and rectify performance issues within the team.
• Responsibilities involve overseeing register functions like backup cashiering, managing returns, addressing customer concerns, and managing register shift substitutions, including scheduled breaks.
• Maintaining a safe and secure environment for both customers and staff.
• Resolving customer queries in compliance with company policies, which may include incorporating structured statements highlighting the functions and nutritional aspects of the products.
• Progressively increasing awareness of product details.
• Applying email and information systems software when required.
• In the event that there is no other suitable employee present, you may be required to handle the tasks associated with DSR completion and finalizing cash procedures.
• Working a schedule based on store needs which includes evenings, weekends, holidays. Position requires working five days, 40 hours per week and attending mandatory store meetings.
• This position includes specific manager on duty duties but does not serve as the primary manager on duty for the store.

Qualification of Produce Support Associate:

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent preferred.
• 1 year of experience in grocery, retail or produce environment preferred; natural foods background is a plus.
• 1 year of experience supervising others preferred.
• Ability to pass food safety training courses and/or certifications as required by law and maintain compliance by keeping certifications up to date and registered if applicable.
• Ability to manage changing priorities and to stay focused with the task at hand.
• Possess a sense of urgency in the completion of tasks.
• Possess excellent customer service skills.
• Highly organized with great attention to detail.
• Ability to take direction and follow through.
• Must be cashier trained and able to count currency.
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Outlook

Physical Requirements of Produce Support Associate:

• The physical demands of the position include the ability to constantly lift or move items up to 10 lbs., frequently lift or move items weighing 11-20 lbs., and occasionally lift or move items weighing 21-50 lbs. It is also necessary to occasionally lift or move items weighing 51-100 lbs. with the assistance of others.
• Capable of frequently pushing or pulling objects that weigh up to 15 lbs and occasionally managing items between 16 and 100 lbs in weight.
• The ability to occasionally operate the computer and use a mouse is essential.
• Throughout the work shift, it is necessary to be able to persistently walk, stand, perform delicate hand tasks, hold onto objects, and extend outward.
• Essential to have the capacity to frequently extend arms above chest height.
• Should have the flexibility to sit, squat, kneel, and ascend periodically.
• Successful applicants should be adept at working with sharp tools and machinery, as well as being comfortable in environments with dust, fumes, and limited space.
• Needs to be adaptable to situation requiring exposure to noise, cold, heat, wetness, outdoor elements, heights, and physical pressure at times.
