Job Summary of Merchandise Associate:

As a Merchandise Associate at Hy-Vee, your responsibilities include inspecting the merchandise to ensure it is fresh, maintaining sufficient product inventory, and adhering to a production schedule or checklist. You are expected to forecast the department's daily product requirements, receive and organize incoming products, and verify invoices

Responsibilities of Merchandise Associate:

• Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions and treating customers as the most important people in the store.
• Smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner, whether the encounter takes place in the employee's designated department or elsewhere in the store. Makes an effort to learn customer's names and to address them by name whenever possible.
• Assists customers by: (examples include) Escorting them to the products they are looking for Securing products that are out of reach Loading or unloading heavy items Making note of passing along customer suggestions or requests Performing other tasks in every way possible to enhance the shopping experience
• Answers the telephone promptly when called upon and provides friendly helpful service to customers who call. Works with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
• Unloads trucks, opens containers, stocks shelves, runs overstock on risers and rotates product.
• Monitors for miss-picked items, reviews product outs, wrong deliveries, etc. Organizes stock for greatest efficiency, cleans and restocks damaged items. Tags the shelves with overstock in the back room and understock drawers. Reports all new or different items for the scanning coordinator for input into the system.
• Maintains strict adherence to department and company guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress. Adheres to company policies and individual store guidelines.
• Reports to work when scheduled, on time, and works the scheduled number of hours.

Qualification of Merchandise Associate:

• The individual should possess problem-solving skills to address real-life issues, handle numerous factors without strict uniformity, and understand and implement given directives.
• Proficiency in solving mathematical operations that include fractions, decimals, and percentages is essential.
• It is necessary to possess the capacity to comprehend and adhere to spoken or shown directions when performing tasks, jot down essential details, and ask for materials verbally or by means of written communication.
• Completion of high school or equivalent education with less than six months of relevant work experience.

Physical Requirements of Merchandise Associate:

• The ability to engage in extremely strenuous tasks is required, including exerting more than 100 pounds of force occasionally, over 50 pounds of force frequently, and over 20 pounds of force consistently for object movement.
• Visual needs encompass a range of vision abilities, covering distances from under 20 inches to beyond 20 feet, whether aided by corrective lenses or not. This includes depth perception, the ability to perceive colors accurately, and the expanse of one's field of vision.
