Role and Responsibilities:

As a Deli Assistant at Brookshire Grocery Company, you will assist customers with a friendly, knowledgeable approach while preparing and maintaining deli items. Your efforts contribute to a clean, safe, and welcoming shopping environment.

• Greet and assist customers, take deli orders, and provide personalized recommendations.
• Prepare deli products including sliced meats, cheeses, salads, and sandwiches according to company guidelines.
• Maintain product freshness, rotate inventory, and arrange attractive displays.
• Adhere consistently to food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards.
• Clean and sanitize deli counters, slicers, equipment, and work areas regularly.
• Receive, inspect, and stock deli products while monitoring expiration dates.
• Process transactions accurately and efficiently at the deli register.
• Work collaboratively with team members to ensure smooth operations during busy periods.
• Promote deli specials, seasonal offerings, and in-store promotions to boost sales.
• Participate in team meetings and provide input to improve customer service and deli operations.

Required Skills and Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in deli, food service, or retail is a plus; training will be provided.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills with a professional, approachable demeanor.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while paying attention to detail.
• Basic math skills for handling pricing and transactions.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 30 pounds, and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices (training provided if necessary).
