Job Summary:

The primary responsibility of The Transactions Associate is to provide a welcoming, efficient, and precise checkout process for our members. Duties include handling transactions, processing payments, and showcasing BJ’s membership opportunities, while also upholding the cleanliness and organization of the front area.

Qualifications:

• Competence in fundamental math principles and cash-handling abilities are favored.
• Having worked in cashiering, retail, or customer service roles previously is advantageous.

Main job functions, duties, and core accountabilities:

• Provides stellar member support by warmly welcoming members, processing transactions efficiently, and answering questions politely.
• Utilizes the POS terminal to scan products accurately for pricing and inventory control purposes.
• Accepts a diverse range of payment methods such as cash, checks, credit cards, and mobile payments.
• Explains the benefits offered by memberships, including renewals and upgrades through schemes like BJ’s Loyalty and EASY Renewal programs.
• Validates the accuracy of transactions by issuing receipts and ensuring correct change is provided.
• Guides members through self-service checkout and scan-and-go machines, assisting with basic technical hiccups.
• Takes care of cleanliness in the front-end space, registers, and areas where members make payments.
• Stays updated on promotions and advertisements to inform members of savings and exclusive offers.
• Complying with club regulations and protocols to maintain operational superiority and member happiness.
• Carries out extra tasks as required, which may involve assisting in different departments as necessary.
• Fulfilling the duty of attending work regularly and predictably is a primary expectation for this position.

Environmental Job Conditions:

• Regularly being on foot and moving on firm pathways.
• Occasional stooping, reaching, and handling loads of up to 30 lbs (heavier items with assistance).
• Primarily set indoors with limited exposure to changes in temperature or loud sounds.
• Random encounters with cleaning materials.
