Job Summary of Deli Support Staff:

In the deli environment, a Deli Support Staff's primary task is to serve customers with politeness and prepare their orders to their satisfaction. This role includes delivering excellent customer service, as well as slicing, packaging, and presenting deli products like meats, cheeses, and salads. Moreover, the clerk is expected to uphold cleanliness and sanitation standards in the workplace, comply with food safety standards, and confirm that all products are fresh, properly labeled, and attractively arranged.

Responsibilities of Deli Support Staff:

• Slice, cut, weigh, and price merchandise in a courteous manner.
• Prepare orders to customers satisfaction.
• Unload deli merchandise and transport stock to storage areas.
• Maintain shelves and keep cases filled at all times.
• Control freshness by coding and rotating all products and remove out-of-code merchandise daily.
• Price all products legibly and according to price book.
• Maintain new items and weekly specials.
• Promote new items and weekly specials.
• Communicate temperature failure of cases and storage areas to manager in charge.
• Observe policies and procedures established for the department.
• Greet all customers and be observant.
• Abide by all company policies as stated in the Employee Handbook.
• Maintain a regular cleaning and sanitation program in compliance with store, local, and state health regulations.
• Assist in preparation of hot foods and all other foods.

Qualifications of Deli Support Staff:

• Dealing with clientele effectively hinges on strong communication skills.
• Proficiency in basic arithmetic is crucial for accurately pricing and weighing items.
• Proficiency in hand movements is key to effectively slicing and preparing a variety of deli offerings.
• Ability to carry items weighing up to fifty (50) pounds occasionally, making up twenty percent (20%) of the task requirements.
