Role and Responsibilities:

As a Butcher Apprentice at Whole Foods Market, you will perform duties related to the cutting, preparation, display, and selling of meat products while ensuring excellent customer service and adherence to food safety standards. You will also support the team by mentoring others and promoting store initiatives.

• Cut, plate, and advertise a selection of meat choices including beef, pork, lamb, veal, and poultry.
• Produce distinctive meat specialties like sausages, oven-friendly choices, and cured meats.
• Verify that products adhere to the quality parameters established by Whole Foods Market.
• Execute sampling programs to ensure product freshness is maintained.
• Mentorship and support to designated Trainee(s) as they learn the duties of a Meat Cutter.
• Deliver outstanding customer support, address customer needs promptly, and model effective suggestive selling techniques.
• Elevate sales outcomes by effectively prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising products.
• Comply with the expectations for health, sanitation, Weights and Measures, and safety stipulations.
• Preserve a hygienic setting for work and retail interactions, and adhere to equipment maintenance requirements.
• Carry out tasks at the start, mid-point, and end of the day, prioritizing the accuracy of signs and pricing.
• Promptly inform authorities of any safety hazards or violations.
• Perform miscellaneous tasks as directed by store, regional, or national leadership.

Essential Requirements and Skill Set:

• Extensive experience in retail spanning 14 months.
• Compliance with the Whole Foods Market Butcher Apprentice Program, or an analogous training curriculum, is crucial for inclusion (exceptions may be granted in the UK).
• Competence in the processes and procedures of the meat department.
• Skilled in the art of cutting, with a focus on breaking down products into sub-primal and retail portions effectively.
• Understanding the qualities of different fruits and vegetables and knowing how to store, prepare, and cook them correctly.
• Competency in visually assessing items for quality and freshness.
• Proficient in team environments due to apt communication skills.
• Strong time management skills, effective organizational abilities, and precision in following directions and procedures.

• Ability to excel in tasks that demand quick action and a sense of urgency in a dynamic work environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Compensation and Benefits:
