Role and Responsibilities of Receiving Specialist:
As a DSD Receiving Specialist, you will ensure the proper receiving of Direct Store Delivery (DSD) products by following Food Lion policies and procedures. You will also help maintain compliance with company standards, enhance sales through excellent service, and protect company assets while minimizing shrink.
- Maintain a lively customer-centric environment by offering prompt, friendly, and precise service.
- Demonstrate courtesy and provide beneficial support to fellow associates.
- Maintain the security of company assets through the precise handling of DSD product receipts and returns.
- Carry out the vendor receiving practices prescribed by Food Lion.
- Communicate with suppliers to rectify errors, policy violations, or surplus inventory.
- Assist in coordinating with the Assistant Store Manager to ensure that vendor promotions happen promptly.
- Enhance the operational efficiency of executing weekly merchandising instructions.
- Check the accuracy of DSD plan-o-grams for verification.
- Ensure the accurate record-keeping and filing of daily and weekly DSD tickets, as well as beer and wine invoices.
- Establish that EDI invoices are in agreement and that there are no outstanding balances.
- Oversee the appropriate procedures for reclaiming and addressing damages.
- Perform CAO tasks involving the organization and rotation of cigarette cartons in the inventory.
- Utilize enterprise tools like ACIS (Average Cost Inventory System) and CAO inventory management platform.
- Stay in line with the organization's guidelines, policies, and accepted practices.
- Demonstrate a dedication to following regulations for both food safety and workplace safety, promptly addressing any potential hazards.
- Notify the Manager on Duty according to Food Lion procedures in the event of accidents with associates and customers.
- Meet the standards mandated by local, state, and federal regulations to ensure conformity.
- Uphold a professional and well-kept look by adhering to the Food Lion uniform guidelines and prominently displaying your name badge.
- Successfully undergo Computer Based Training (CBT), Training Packets, and Training Aid courses.
- Execute supplemental tasks as instructed.
Required Skills and Experience of Receiving Specialist:
- It is preferred that applicants have a high school diploma or its equivalent.
- Proficiency in interpersonal skills, organization, communication, and client relations.
- Capability and willingness to learn diverse tasks and meet technical job standards.
- Enhancing problem-solving proficiency through technical insights.
- Meeting the age prerequisites is essential for fulfilling the responsibilities outlined for the job position.
- Ability to adhere to the physical prerequisites of the position, with or without suitable adjustments.
Physical Requirements of Receiving Specialist:
- Well-versed in using computers and other communication tools required to fulfill job functions.
- Execute recurring hand and arm maneuvers.
- Lift up to 15 lbs. continuously, manage 25 lbs. frequently, and handle 50 lbs. occasionally through bending and lifting actions.
- There could be instances where it is necessary to push or pull items weighing up to 75 lbs.
- Stay on your feet and walk short distances frequently.
- Perform duties related to substances used in the sterilization of packaging materials, fresh produce, plants, and household cleansers.
- Consistently handle money transactions while utilizing tools like registers, lottery terminals, scanners, computers, and calculators.
- Perform frequent reaching and grasping at waist level; occasionally reach above shoulder/below waist.
- Maintain the efficiency levels expected for the position.
- Function in severe heat or cold for periods of up to 20 minutes as stipulated.
- Make sure your visual ability is ample for reviewing IDs, checks, invoices, and any other written documents.
