Assistant Liquor Store Manager

Role and Responsibilities:

The Assistant Liquor Store Manager supports daily operations of the liquor department and assumes leadership in the absence of the Liquor Store Manager. This working management position involves customer service, team supervision, merchandising, inventory control, and compliance with company and regulatory standards. Key responsibilities include:

• Create a welcoming environment that enhances customer satisfaction and loyalty.
• Ensure in-stock conditions and merchandising standards are consistently met.
• Train associates on stocking, ordering, and product knowledge.
• Assist customers with product selection and resolve inquiries promptly.
• Promote teamwork, communication, and respect among associates.
• Support sales, merchandising, and profitability goals for the department.
• Manage associate scheduling to meet business needs, especially during peak hours.
• Complete administrative tasks such as communications, scheduling, pricing, ordering, and receiving.
• Monitor inventory accuracy and report discrepancies.
• Inspect products for quality and freshness, taking corrective action when necessary.
• Support inventory planning and maintain accurate temperature logs.
• Ensure compliance with safety, sanitation, and food handling requirements.
• Execute recalls and withdrawals accurately and promptly.
• Promote workplace safety and ensure PPE and training requirements are met.

Required Skills and Experience:

• High School diploma or GED.
• 0–3 years of relevant retail or food service experience.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Authorization to work in the United States.
• Successful completion of pre-employment drug screen and background check.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Basic math and inventory knowledge.
• Proficiency with computer applications related to department operations.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Bilingual (English required, Spanish preferred).

Environmental and Physical Requirements:

• Regular standing, walking, lifting up to 50 lbs, and use of hands and feet.
• Occasional sitting, climbing up to 30 ft, kneeling, and crouching.
• Work in varied indoor and outdoor environments, including cold, hot, and humid conditions.
• Exposure to sharp objects, cleaning agents, equipment noise, and other safety risks.
• Use of PPE such as gloves, goggles, and back brace required.
• Knowledge of lockout/tagout procedures and safe equipment handling.

Equipment Used:

• General office equipment, register, pricing tools, scales, scanners.
• Material handling equipment: pallet jacks, carts, racks.
• Preferred: baler/compactor, box cutter.

Working Conditions:

• No travel or overnight requirements.
• Varied shifts, including three to four evening shifts per week.
