Cake Decorator

Job Summary:

Target, you’ll help bring joy to guests by creating beautifully designed cakes, cupcakes, and desserts that enhance their celebrations and everyday moments. You’ll work in a fun, fast-paced environment as part of our Food & Beverage team, ensuring fresh, visually appealing products while providing exceptional guest service. This role combines creativity, efficiency, and teamwork to make every guest experience delightful.

Roles and Duties:

• Engage with guests to capture and fulfill custom cake and dessert orders with creativity and accuracy.
• Prepare, ice, and decorate cakes, cupcakes, and seasonal desserts following production card specifications and design standards.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace while following all food safety and sanitation standards.
• Execute all Food & Beverage operational processes, including receiving, stocking, labeling, and displaying products.
• Monitor product freshness and rotation to ensure quality and minimize waste.
• Use sampling and suggestive selling techniques to promote bakery items and increase sales.
• Collaborate with team members to maintain visual presentation, meet sales goals, and provide excellent service.
• Uphold Target’s food safety, health, and compliance policies, including temperature monitoring and inventory accuracy.
• Support guest services such as backup cashiering, order pickup, and Drive-Up (DU) duties when needed.
• Provide a welcoming experience by greeting and assisting guests promptly and courteously.

Physical Demands:

• Ability to work on your feet for extended periods and perform repetitive motions such as icing, decorating, and lifting.
• Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 40 lbs. of merchandise or equipment as needed.
• Work in varying temperature environments ranging from 34°F to -10°F depending on work area.
• Ability to handle allergens safely and work in spaces where common allergens may be present.
• Remain mobile and focused throughout shifts in a fast-paced, physically active role.

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
• Previous cake decorating experience preferred but not required; artistic and creative skills are a plus.
• Strong guest service skills and a welcoming, helpful attitude toward guests and team members.
• Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and peak shopping periods.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to multitask in a dynamic environment.
• Capable of operating handheld scanners, communication devices, and other technology as directed.
• Reliable attendance and commitment to working safely and efficiently.
