Facilities Assistant

Job Summary of Facilities Assistant:

As a Facilities Assistant at ShopRite, you will help create a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for both customers and team members. You will be responsible for to perform maintenance and janitorial duties throughout the store as presented by Store Management to ensure that the store premises and fixtures are kept clean and sanitary, including restrooms, common areas, and floors. You will also assist in collecting carts, managing waste and recycling, and maintaining equipment according to safety and sanitation standards.

Responsibilities of Facilities Assistant:

• Ensure the store is consistently kept clean, neat, and secure.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms, with special attention given to all plumbing fixtures.
• Keep the restroom equipped with essentials like soap, paper towels, and toilet tissue by refilling them as required.
• Carry out floor-cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, waxing, or vacuuming as specified.
• Complete cleaning tasks in associate breakrooms and communal areas as necessary.
• Monitor cleaning supplies inventory and inform management about low levels to restock.
• Ensure proper disposal of waste by regularly emptying and clearing out trash and recycling bins situated throughout the store.
• Adhere to safety guidelines when operating cleaning equipment, such as floor scrubbers.
• Round up shopping carts from the parking lot and bring them back to the designated areas inside the store.
• Remember to secure extra doors before accessing exterior areas for cleaning or trash disposal.
• Bring to the attention of store management any equipment malfunctions or hazardous conditions as soon as possible.
• Help support other departments with their maintenance-related responsibilities.
• Offer a friendly greeting to each customer and provide them with prompt, respectful help.
• Uphold safety and cleanliness standards without fail, giving special attention to the handling of chemicals.
• It is necessary to comply with all store policies and procedures, such as guidelines for uniform requirements and grooming standards.
• Follow ShopRite's Service Priorities by prioritizing Safety, Friendliness, Presentation, and Efficiency in task execution.
• Execute additional duties as tasked.

Qualifications of Facilities Assistant:

• Must be 18 years or older to operate balers, hi-lo's, power jacks, and floor cleaning machines.
• Ability to proficiently read, write, speak, analyze, interpret, and understand the English language.
• Ability to perform basic math.
• Ability to stand and walk for the duration of a scheduled shift.
• Ability to bend, twist, reach, push, pull, and regularly lift 25 lbs., and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to tolerate dust, cleaning agents, and various temperature conditions.
• Ability to work with cleaning chemicals and follow safety procedures at all times.
• Ability to interact with Customers in a friendly and helpful manner.
• Ability to work cooperatively with others and follow direction from management.
• Ability to work all assigned schedules and comply with time and attendance policies.
