Perishable Associate

Role and Responsibilities:

As a Perishable Associate, you will ensure quality standards are met, provide outstanding customer service, and support sales growth while reducing shrink. Your responsibilities include creating a positive shopping environment, following company practices, and ensuring compliance with food safety standards.

• Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with focus on fast, friendly, and accurate service.
• Provide courteous and helpful support to associates.
• Use company tools such as Average Cost Inventory System (ACIS) and ordering (CAO).
• Receive deliveries, code where applicable, rotate products, and place in proper storage.
• Ensure ordering, receiving, preparation, conditioning, and displaying of merchandise follow company policies.
• Maintain proper product levels across meat, lunchmeat, frozen, dairy, and ice cream.
• Process beef and grinds as directed from the planned production tool.
• Wrap, label, weigh, and stock meat as needed.
• Assemble, disassemble, and clean grinders as needed.
• Properly clean and sanitize the department, maintaining layout and variety standards.
• Ensure advertising and promotional materials are in compliance.
• Follow all Food Lion guidelines, policies, and standard practices.
• Adhere to Food Safety and Workplace Safety guidelines.
• Identify, correct, and report unsafe conditions to the Manager on Duty.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Wear Food Lion uniform with apron and name badge, maintaining a neat and professional appearance.
• Complete required training including Computer Based Training (CBT) and Training Packets.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Experience:

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
• Ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical job requirements.
• Ability to use technical information to solve problems.
• Must meet minimum age requirements for job functions.
• Ability to meet physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.

Physical Requirements:

• Use computers and other communication systems as required.
• Perform repetitive hand and arm motions.
• Bend and lift up to 15 lbs. continuously, 25 lbs. frequently, and 50 lbs. occasionally.
• Push or pull up to 75 lbs. occasionally.
• Stand 100% of the time with frequent walking.
• Handle substances used in cleaning and packaging materials.
• Reach and grasp at waist level frequently, occasionally above or below.
• Meet established volume activity standards.
• Work in extreme hot or cold temperatures for up to 20 minutes at a time.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience in retail or perishable department operations is a plus.
