Job Summary of Pharmacy Sales Technician:

This position is responsible for supporting the Pharmacy Department by performing various duties related to prescription processing, customer service, inventory management, and maintaining cleanliness in the department. The individual ensures that prescriptions are processed efficiently and accurately while providing exceptional customer service.

Job Duties and Responsibilities of Pharmacy Sales Technician:

• Perform all functions and duties of a Pharmacy Service Representative to ensure prompt service in the Pharmacy Department.
• Enter prescription information into the computer system, including patient and prescriber searches, drug selection, prescription interpretation, insurance billing, and basic problem resolution.
• Accept customer and prescription information for new and refill prescriptions, including obtaining refill authorization from doctors' offices where permitted by state law.
• Retrieve the appropriate medication from inventory, as permitted by state law.
• Create prescription labels and place them on prescription containers as permitted by state law.
• Place medication into prescription containers as permitted by state law.
• Complete necessary paperwork related to filling prescriptions and input customer and prescription data into the computer system as permitted by law.
• Assist with maintaining the Pharmacy Department's cleanliness and organization.
• Assist with inventory management processes including order review, inventory returns, restocking shelves, and preparing for physical inventory.
• Reconstitute oral liquids as permitted by state law.

Qualifications and Experience of Pharmacy Sales Technician:

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 600 practical hours of experience in retail and/or pharmacy operations, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
