Job Summary of Deli Counter Worker:
To deliver a great customer experience while assisting the Deli Counter Worker in the daily operation in the Appy/Deli Department; to maintain a neat, clean and visually appealing department and to perform other tasks as required in an efficient and safe manner, within Company policy.
Qualifications of Deli Counter Worker:
- Proficient skills in reading, writing, speaking, analyzing, interpreting, and understanding English.
- Competency in handling elementary mathematical equations.
- Proficiency in utilizing equipment required by the department, like slicers, scales, can openers, wrapping machines, rotisseries, fryolators, cheese graters/cutters, case cutters, and stoves/ovens, is vital.
- Capability to stand, bend, twist, reach, exert force, pull, and consistently lift items weighing 25 pounds, occasionally handling objects weighing 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in a wide range of temperatures.
- The proficiency to work with fresh, dried, or processed products, spices, and powdered substances without facing any allergic repercussions.
- Ability to withstand dust and household cleaners when performing routine housekeeping duties.
- Talent for remaining upright and mobile during the specified work hours.

Responsibilities of Deli Counter Worker:
- Operate a cutting tool along with its related equipment.
- Replenish Appy/Deli product.
- Get the Appy/Deli product market-ready.
- Implement sanctioned procedures for receiving, code dating, preparation, storage, price marking, arrangement, and replenishment of products to uphold quality, accuracy, and product rotation and safeguarding.
- Follow Company regulations for managing impaired and spoiled products and help in regulating the amount of damaged merchandise.
- Ensure consistent updates are given to the manager or designated team members regarding low inventory or spoilage problems.
- Ensure constant availability and orderly display of salad bowls and other presentations based on departmental requirements.
- Periodically inspect refrigeration units for performance adequacy; promptly notify maintenance of any issues identified.
- Abide by departmental requirements for operating and maintaining equipment, and notify promptly of any equipment malfunctions.
- Keep the work environment clean, neat, and secure to cultivate a safe and organized atmosphere.
- Transport items from trucks to the Appy/Deli Department, handling merchandise that typically weighs 25 lbs and can occasionally be as heavy as 50 lbs.
- Carry out frequent lifting, pulling, pushing, and rotating tasks with merchandise weighing 25 lbs, occasionally 50 lbs.
- Adhere to the Company's guidelines for reducing losses in the Appy/Deli Department as outlined in the shrinkage policy.
- Follow guidelines to operate equipment with all safety precautions functional and in good condition.
- Perform tasks by abiding by safe techniques and procedures.
- Ensure that all equipment, tools, and work surfaces are cleaned and sanitized in line with Department of Sanitation and QA directives.
- Ensure the floor is free of obstructions and spills for safety reasons.
- Review the received product against the invoice to ensure accuracy.
- Act on the department manager's request to order the product.
- Clear out clutter and deposit it in the designated zone.
- Handle the cardboard recycling process by operating the baler efficiently.
- Update prices following the guidance provided by the Department Manager.
- Displays merchandise in a visually appealing and colorful exhibition.
- Validate the prices and be knowledgeable about the placement of items in the store.
- Showcase the charitable campaigns that customers can engage with by making a purchase.
- Maintain a standing position at the work station for the duration of the scheduled shift, which could surpass 8 hours daily.
- Developing expertise in distinguishing between different types of merchandise involves being able to pinpoint disparities in taste, preparation styles, and price differentiations within similar categories of products.
- Manage and track the inventory of cleaning supplies and sanitizing chemicals, and advise the supervisor when stock levels are running low as outlined.
- Follow all Local, State, and Federal regulations in the execution of duties within the Appy/Deli department.
- Comply with Company regulations, policies, safety procedures, and security protocols, while also adhering to health and civil code regulations mandated at the Local, State, and Federal levels in the performance of duties.
- Follow the Company's regulations regarding dressing and grooming according to the prescribed policy, which involves wearing the designated uniform, showcasing a name badge, and using suitable headwear or hair restraints as required.
- Conform to the QA procedures for hand washing and utilize disposable gloves when in contact with food.
- Perform duties following the Company's HAZCOM guidelines and adhere to the manufacturer's labeled instructions for the safe and correct handling of chemical products.
- Complete all department-related training programs.
- Follow ShopRite's guidelines by prioritizing Safety, Friendliness, Presentation, and Efficiency in all duties.
- Make a conscious effort to be timely and committed to attending all obligations.
- Perform extra hours as scheduled by the management.

- Only individuals who have attained the age of 18 are authorized to use balers, forklifts, pallet jacks, and slicers.
