Front End Specialist

Role and Responsibilities:

The Front End Specialist plays a crucial role in increasing customer confidence and loyalty by providing accurate, fast, and friendly service. This role ensures the smooth operation of front-end processes and supports customer, cash, and inventory management. Key responsibilities include:

• Provide continuous attention to customer needs; greet, assist, and thank customers in a prompt, courteous, and friendly manner.
• Address and resolve customer complaints or issues immediately, escalating to management when necessary.
• Assist the department manager with inventory management, maintaining stock levels, pricing integrity, and merchandising support.
• Ensure proper front-end opening and closing procedures, including daily cash reconciliations, self-checkouts, and weekly closeouts.
• Educate customers on self-checkout usage and troubleshoot front-end equipment problems as needed.
• Maintain a clean, orderly work environment free from safety hazards; report faulty equipment to management.
• Perform cashier duties, restock front-end products, and handle discarded or returned merchandise appropriately.
• Exhibit professional telephone etiquette and communicate effectively with customers, team members, and management.
• Notify management of any abnormal customer behavior, team member theft, or potential security threats.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 18 years of age with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Proven performance as a SEG associate in customer service or one year of management/supervisory experience in supermarkets, retail, restaurants, hotels, or general business.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently and follow instructions in English.
• Authorization to work in the United States and successful completion of pre-employment drug testing and background check.
• Preferred: Experience as a SEG associate in grocery and at least one other department, with two years of leadership experience.

Physical Demands & Working Conditions:

• Regularly required to stand, walk, and perform repetitive movements.
• Occasional exposure to cold, wet, or humid conditions; lifting or carrying items up to 70 lbs.
• Varied shifts including evening and closing shifts, with occasional overnight travel.
