Retail Cashier

Job Summary of Retail Cashier:

As a Retail Cashier, your role entails providing customers with a positive and efficient checkout experience by ensuring quick and precise transactions. You will be responsible for managing payments accurately and maintaining cleanliness and organization at the checkout counter area. Additionally, you will be expected to offer assistance to customers, participate in promoting charitable activities, and adhere to company policies and protocols to enhance the safety and convenience of the shopping process.

Responsibilities of Retail Cashier:

• Handle customer transactions promptly and accurately
• It is important to furnish appropriate alterations and proof of purchase for all acquired items.
• Be well-informed about the pricing and the placement of products within the store.
• Acknowledge patrons and deliver quick, respectful service and support.
• Spread awareness about the latest charitable campaigns and promotional deals to attract customer interest.
• Package customer orders in a safe, efficient, and well-organized manner, employing reusable or paper/plastic bags based on customer preference.
• Ensure that the front-end section is kept clean and orderly, encompassing the registers, conveyor belts, and immediate surroundings.
• Make sure to follow all safety measures when dealing with money and utilizing Retail Cashier tools.
• Ensure compliance with all company protocols concerning register functions, reversals, canceled transactions, and approvals.
• Report any equipment, pricing, or customer-related issues to management promptly.
• Help with refilling quick-grab items and managing the appearance of front-of-house advertising exhibits.
• Coordinate with the front-end team and other departments to ensure customer satisfaction is met.
• Occupy the register area for the entirety of the scheduled shift, even if it goes beyond 8 hours per day.
• Be punctual and adhere to a regular attendance schedule.
• Be willing to put in extra time as required by your employer.
• Fulfill any other responsibilities as required.

Qualifications of Retail Cashier:

• Must be 18 years or older to operate register equipment independently.
• Ability to read, write, speak, analyze, interpret, and understand English proficiently.
• Ability to perform basic math functions, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Ability to stand and walk for the entire duration of a scheduled shift.
• Ability to bend, twist, reach, and lift up to 25 lbs. regularly, and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to interact with customers in a friendly and professional manner.
• Ability to handle multiple transactions quickly and accurately in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work cooperatively with others and follow all company time and attendance policies.
