Role and Responsibilities:
The Grocery Produce Attendant is responsible for ensuring the produce section is fresh, organized, and inviting to customers, while maintaining high-quality standards. You will help keep the department running smoothly and deliver excellent customer service throughout your shift.
- Greet and assist customers with selecting produce and providing product details.
- Create and maintain attractive displays of fruits and vegetables.
- Stock shelves, rotate items, and remove damaged or expired products to ensure freshness.
- Confirm accurate pricing and labeling for all produce items.
- Receive deliveries and inspect products to uphold quality standards.
- Track inventory levels and report restocking needs promptly.
- Follow food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety guidelines.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the department and storage areas.
- Work collaboratively with team members, management, and other departments.
- Assist in onboarding and training new produce clerks or team members.
- Support other departments during peak periods or as assigned.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Customer-focused with a strong commitment to delivering exceptional service.
- Basic understanding of fruits and vegetables and willingness to expand knowledge.
- Ability to lift and move items up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Attention to detail to ensure cleanliness and organization standards are met.
- Effective team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable, proactive, and strong work ethic.
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Minimum age requirement: 18 years.
Preferred Qualifications:
- No prior produce experience is necessary; grocery or retail experience is a plus.
- Basic math skills for handling pricing and cash transactions.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Hourly wage: $15.00 - $17.00, depending on experience and location.
