Job Summary of Meat Cutter:

A Meat Cutter performs the task of slicing, trimming, and readying meat items in a retail setting, such as a supermarket or butcher shop, ensuring the products are presented in an appealing manner. The individual in this role also upholds the cleanliness and sanitization of the cutting tools, workstations, and showcases, adhering to rigorous hygiene and safety protocols throughout the process

Responsibilities of Meat Cutter:

  • Adhere to all internal company guidelines, protocols, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant Management Planning standards
  • Show fairness, dignity, and respect to all colleagues in the workplace.
  • Enhance familiarity with the full range of products found in the meat section, encompassing various cooking techniques.
  • Adjust prices and ensure accurate pricing records in accordance with given instructions.
  • Support in unique assignments and carry out additional tasks as directed by manager.
  • Provide guidance and support to fellow colleagues during designated training sessions
  • Always present yourself in a tidy and well-maintained manner and adhere to the company's guidelines on personal grooming.
  • Uphold effective communication within the department and across the entire organization.
  • Uphold the organization's safety protocols. Notify management of any necessary repairs or maintenance of equipment. Maintain a clutter-free work environment and eliminate potential safety risks.
  • Adhere to and uphold the company's cleanliness and food safety protocols.
  • Carry out any additional tasks as required.

Qualification of Meat Cutter:

  • Strong communication abilities and a preference for collaborating with others.
  • Adherence to the specified age criteria is necessary.
  • Proficient abilities in handling customer needs and communicating effectively are essential for providing exceptional customer service.
  • Previous familiarity with working as a meat associate or having a background in meat cutting is required.
  • Proven capacity and eagerness to acquire proficiency in various duties and technical specifications of the position.

Physical Requirements:

  • Lift meat packages weighing between 1 and 40 pounds regularly, occasionally handling loads of up to 100 pounds.
  • Achieve the required levels of productivity as per the established volume metrics.
  • Be on your feet or move continuously throughout your shift in conditions where the temperature is around 45 degrees Fahrenheit for the most part.
  • Execute repeated gripping, turning, extending, and arm/hand movements while identifying, wrapping, labeling, and measuring the merchandise.
  • Utilize hands persistently for tactile exploration of items, employ implements and machinery for slicing and processing meat goods.
  • Capable of managing a range of substances linked to cleaning agents, packaging supplies, and meat items.
  • Frequent bending.

Preferred Requirements of Meat Cutter:

  • After finishing training, carry out the tasks involved in meat cutting, such as scraping and placing products on trays, cutting steaks into cubes, grinding meats, and processing meat based on the guidelines outlined in the Standard Practice Manual.
  • Execute tasks related to meat preparation as instructed.
  • Offer exceptional customer support. Engage with clients to aid in product choice.
  • Adhere to established protocols to label, package, cost, and measure all meat products within the section as per prescribed guidelines.
  • Maintain the proper rotation of products when restocking the fresh, frozen, and self-service display units.
  • Accept the delivery of any meat, apply the assigned code, rotate the stock, and place it in the designated storage space.
  • Thoroughly clean, disinfect, and sanitize all containers, wrapping stations, scaling tools, refrigerators, and cutting areas, including dismantling and putting back together any machinery as needed.
  • The ability to fulfil the physical demands of the job is essential, whether or not adjustments can be made to assist.
