Role and Responsibilities:

As a Grocery Deli Clerk at Brookshire Grocery Company, you will assist customers with a friendly and knowledgeable approach while preparing and maintaining deli offerings. You will help ensure cleanliness, follow food safety practices, and contribute to a positive shopping experience.

• Greet customers, take deli orders, and provide helpful product recommendations.
• Prepare deli items such as sliced meats, cheeses, salads, and sandwiches according to company procedures.
• Maintain freshness of products, rotate stock, and arrange visually appealing displays.
• Consistently follow food safety, sanitation, and hygiene guidelines.
• Clean and sanitize deli counters, slicers, equipment, and work areas regularly.
• Assist with receiving, inspecting, and stocking deli items while monitoring expiration dates.
• Process transactions accurately and efficiently at the deli register.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth workflow during busy periods.
• Highlight deli specials, seasonal items, and in-store promotions to increase sales.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to enhancing customer service and department performance.

Required Skills and Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in deli, food service, or retail is advantageous; training is available.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills with a professional, approachable demeanor.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Basic math skills to handle pricing and transactions.
• Capability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 30 pounds, and manage physically demanding tasks.
• Understanding of food safety and sanitation standards (training provided if necessary).
