Job Summary of Payment Clerk:

The duties of a Payment Clerk include operating a cash register and check-out counter efficiently while following all front-end procedures and company policies. Payment Clerks must also prioritize customer satisfaction by offering prompt and courteous assistance.

Responsibilities of Payment Clerk:

• Provide accurate and efficient scanning services for grocery orders.
• Find the departments and modifiers that do not function correctly within the scanning system.
• Implemented the scan and bag strategy to increase efficiency and accommodate specific bagging preferences provided by customers.
• Securely store and verify the cash in the drawer before commencing your work shift.
• Safely handle payment media and conform to the company’s policies concerning financial responsibility and cash regulation.
• Adhere to the specified guidelines for handling void requests accurately.
• Precisely recognize the different produce items and enter the accurate lookup numbers associated with each.
• Implement and monitor security policies like preventing theft, overseeing staff purchases, controlling bottom-of-basket items, and managing informal communication networks.
• Understanding the proper procedures for handling store inventory.
• Awareness of the weekly advertisement and Hot Sheet items available for purchase.
• Demonstrate a commitment to excellent customer service by correctly welcoming and expressing gratitude towards clients.
• Adhering to the standards and regulations outlined in the Employee Handbook.
• Assist with general maintenance tasks in the front end location.
• Offering aid in restocking shelves or facing the store when needed.

Qualifications of Payment Clerk:

• Must have dexterity in hands to be able to scan/key groceries.
• Must have strong communication skills to ensure excellent customer service.
• Strong mathematical skills required to run the registers.
• Must be able to lift up to twenty five (25) pounds up to forty percent (40%) of the time.
• Must be able to stand upright for the majority of your scheduled work shift.
