Job Summary of Store Support Manager:
In charge of the store's operations and profitability, the Store Support Manager oversees the training, guidance, and supervision of all department employees.
Responsibilities of Store Support Manager:
- Guests are welcomed and attended to in alignment with the organization's benchmarks for outstanding customer service.
- All company managers are anticipated to exhibit professionalism and provide the necessary leadership within the workplace.

- The retail space is designed to be both appealing and conducive to shopping.

- Guarantees that the phone is answered in accordance with company standards and dedicates a significant portion of their schedule to assisting customers, managing staff, and tending to departmental requirements.
- Providing instruction to employees on delivering outstanding customer service and establishing a system of accountability within the team.
- Verifying that the staff complies with the applicable state and county certifications and registration for food safety.
- The Assistant Store Manager is responsible for ensuring that the store is meeting and/or exceeding expectations in the following areas:
- Analysis of store and department sales efficiency through the Sales per Labor Hour Ratio
- Average Purchase Value, Customer Volume, and Cost of Goods Sold related to Produce Items
- EBITDA
- Guarantees that the selected vendors are used for ordering products to secure the accurate discounts and sustain profit margins.
- Ensures that on-hand stock levels adhere to company norms
- Monitoring the range of products offered, which includes:
- Periodic assessment of departments to maintain high-performing merchandise and eliminate products that have minimal sales
- The company protocol mandates the regular addition of new products.
- Guarantees perishables are appropriately rotated and replenished as outlined by the company.
- Markdowns are overseen in accordance with the company's specific standards.
- Responsible for aiding the Store Manager in the process of hiring, training, and supervising all store personnel to meet company criteria.
- Trains staff, allocates duties, and oversees task fulfillment.
- Guarantees the accuracy and completeness of both the master and daily schedules to meet the store needs. Ensures schedules are promptly posted and assigns daily tasks according to company task sheets.
- Cooperates with department supervisors to assign personnel for tasks on a day-to-day basis.
- Provides training and guidance to employees to create a seamless store environment and offer customer support across all sections.
- Collaborates closely with department managers to facilitate the cross-training of employees for task completion.
- Partners with staff to ensure adequate product knowledge to meet customers' needs, training staff on where to find answers to customer questions by utilizing store resources.
- Assists the Store Manager in the completion and implementation of staff performance evaluations in coordination with department managers. Supports in approving salary increments where required.
- Collaborates with department managers to interview and recruit new personnel to address store staffing needs.
- Deals with performance and disciplinary issues promptly and correctly, utilizing the help of Human Resources as necessary.
- Engages in open and concise communication with store personnel, including assisting in the coordination of monthly staff assemblies and disseminating relevant corporate updates.
- Tasked with ensuring that safety measures are always adhered to.

- Responsible for helping the Store Manager in teaching, advising, and nurturing store personnel.
- Encouragement is given to employees to elevate their awareness of nutrition and product knowledge.
- By following company standards, he/she and store staff provide answers to customer questions that incorporate Structure/Function statements and information on nutritional support.
- Demonstrates proficiency in operational responsibilities like managing daily schedules, checklists, and opening and closing duties.
- Guarantees that store paperwork and reports, including the Monthly Manager's Report, are completed within the designated timeframe.
- Accomplishes the DSR and Manager's Cash proficiently and accurately.
- Manages department manager inquiries promptly and aids in managing staff breaks when required.
- Handling occasional interruptions to the normal flow of business, such as monitoring loitering individuals, addressing solicitation problems, managing unexpected weather conditions, and enforcing proper restroom etiquette.
- Abides by a work schedule that is established based on the demands of the store, encompassing evening and weekend shifts, and a total of 45 hours per week.
- Instructs the staff on ways to show support for decisions made by the home office, attentively follows instructions from headquarters, and ensures the proper completion of assigned tasks.
- Examines and obeys communications (memorandums, telefaxes, electronic correspondence) from the central office when working remotely.
- Stays open to adjusting to shifting work needs to meet targets.

Qualification of Store Support Manager:
- High school diploma or GED required 1-2 years management experience in grocery and/or related retail experience, natural foods industry a plus.
- Proficient in managing evolving priorities.
- Successfully completing the essential food safety training courses and passing assessments as stipulated by state and county laws in order to acquire the required certifications.
- The ability to obtain forklift certification is a requirement for operating the equipment.
- Maintain adherence to food safety standards by consistently updating your certifications through further education and ensuring registration with the relevant regulatory body if needed.
- Exhibits a proactive approach to getting things done quickly and efficiently, coupled with exceptional organizational abilities.
- Exhibits strong skills in delivering quality customer service.
- Skill in heeding directions and seeing them to completion.
- Must possess cashier training certification.
- Competence in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook is essential.
