Grocery Stock Clerk

Role and Responsibilities:

As a Grocery Stock Clerk at Giant Food, you play a key role in maintaining fully stocked, organized, and clean shelves to deliver an outstanding shopping experience. You will work efficiently in a dynamic environment across multiple departments, including produce, dairy, frozen, and general grocery aisles.

• Replenish shelves, displays, and endcaps with products.
• Follow FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures to ensure product freshness.
• Verify that all items are correctly priced and labeled.
• Create and maintain promotional displays and signage as instructed by management.
• Assist customers in finding products and provide helpful guidance.
• Deliver friendly, knowledgeable support to enhance the shopping experience.
• Address minor customer issues or escalate to a supervisor when necessary.
• Keep workspaces tidy, including cleaning shelves, spills, and floors.
• Maintain backroom and storage areas in a clean and organized manner.
• Notify management of low-stock or out-of-stock items.
• Participate in routine inventory counts and audits.
• Inspect product dates and remove expired or damaged items from shelves.
• Collaborate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and different departments.
• Support other departments as assigned by store leadership.
• Contribute to smooth store operations and foster a team-oriented environment.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Minimum age of 16 years (18 years for certain departments).
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.
• Previous retail or grocery experience is advantageous but not mandatory.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and carry items up to 50 lbs.
• Comfortable working in refrigerated areas (dairy/frozen departments).
• Availability to work flexible shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Basic math and reading comprehension abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in grocery, retail, or customer-facing roles.
• Knowledge of inventory management or merchandising practices.
• Proven ability to work well within a team environment.
