Responsibilities of Bakery Department Manager:
- The Bakery Department Manager at Sprouts Farmers Market is accountable for overseeing the Bakery Department's overall operations.
- Oversee the daily baking operations, manufacturing processes, and presentation of bakery items
- Oversee and ensure the quality and uniformity of products, while also monitoring inventory levels and controlling financial resources within the bakery
- Assess the state and functioning of departments to identify strong points and areas that need enhancement; create better methods and protocols
- Uphold adherence to company safety protocols, appropriate food management procedures, cleanliness standards, and efficiency levels
- Accountable for ensuring accurate placement of orders, receiving shipments, unloading goods, and organizing storage
- Implementing the rotation of products and creation of new displays
- In charge of overseeing the department's stock levels, availability, pricing accuracy, product display, staffing, and various operational procedures according to Sprouts' guidelines
- Strategize and arrange in accordance with organizational guidelines to enhance revenue and overall profit

- Encourage team members with coaching, feedback, and individual development talks, and offer suggestions for salary adjustments by conducting the semi-annual performance appraisal procedure.
- Make it a habit to attend and engage in in-person store gatherings.
- Collaborate with the Store Manager in making decisions regarding recruitment, hiring, and promotions/transfers.
- Show self-assurance while using individual discretion to handle Team Member issues.
- Implement necessary corrections when required, which may involve working closely with colleagues from the business and human resources departments to address performance issues through methods such as coaching, counseling, escalation of disciplinary measures, temporary suspension, or dismissal as necessary.
- Optimize operational productivity and effectiveness through the creation and adaptation of schedules and staffing arrangements.
- Convey guidelines, anticipations, modifications in regulations, and understanding of products to staff.
- Take charge of a team that works together to provide customers with top-notch products, exceptional service, and an unparalleled experience.
- Act as a Key Carrier or perform Manager on Duty responsibilities when required for the store's operation.
Qualifications of Bakery Department Manager:
- To be a Bakery Department Manager at Sprouts Farmers Market qualified candidates must:
- Be at least 18 years of age with a minimum of 2 years' retail grocery experience
- Be dependable and reliable having the ability to work flexible schedule that changes; including night, weekends, and holidays
- Have and show outgoing and friendly behavior along with a positive attitude towards Team Members and customers.
- Have good communication skills; and the ability to give and take direction participating in a team environment
- Be able to answer phones and take special orders
- Perform general housekeeping in the department; clean and sanitize work area (including tables, floor, walls, cases, cooler, freezer, etc.)
- Be able to operate and use knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, and hand trucks as needed. Uses knowledge of scales and weight measures to accurately weigh and label products
- Be able to stand for up to 3 hours continuously, for a total of 8 hours per shift. This role also requires vertically transferring tray up to 5 lbs., from 7 to 64 for up to 10 hours, and vertically/horizontally transferring items up to 40 lbs., from 5 to 36, for a distance up to 36 feet for up to 10 hours without mechanical assistance
- Adhere to all safety, health, and Weights and Measures regulations, and achieve and maintain a Food Handlers permit
- Possess a working knowledge of personnel reports, margin reports, weekly sales numbers, and financial goals
