Job Summary of Deli Clerk:
The central role is to ensure customer satisfaction by assisting the Deli Clerk with daily operations in the Appy/Deli Department. Maintaining a clean, visually appealing department and completing tasks as needed in a safe and efficient manner within company guidelines is paramount.
Qualifications of Deli Clerk:
- Skillfulness in reading, writing, speaking, analyzing, interpreting, and understanding the English language.
- Capacity for completing fundamental math tasks.
- The ability to operate necessary equipment within the department, such as slicers, scales, can openers, wrapping machines, rotisseries, fryolators, cheese graters/cutters, case cutters, and stoves/ovens, is a fundamental requirement.
- Aptitude to maintain an upright position, flex, rotate, reach, push, pull, and regularly lift 25 pounds, occasionally dealing with 50-pound objects.
- Ability to work in a wide range of temperatures.
- Skill in handling fresh, dried, or processed items, spices, and powdered substances without experiencing any adverse allergic reactions.
- Competence in enduring dust and cleaning products while fulfilling daily housekeeping tasks.

Responsibilities of Deli Clerk:
- Use a slicing machine and its related apparatus.
- Replenish Appy/Deli product.
- Get the Appy/Deli product market-ready.
- Comply with established protocols for managing the receipt, coding with dates, readiness, storage, pricing, arrangement, and restocking of goods to ensure accuracy, quality, and protection of product rotation.
- Comply with Company procedures for addressing damaged and spoiled goods and assist in monitoring the quantity of impaired merchandise.
- Ensure that the manager or specified associates are informed of any low inventory conditions or spoilage challenges.
- Keep salad bowls and other showcases well-stocked and displayed correctly, following department standards.
- Routinely check refrigeration equipment for optimal performance; report any malfunctions immediately upon discovery.
- Abide by departmental requirements for operating and maintaining equipment, and notify promptly of any equipment malfunctions.
- Maintain a tidy, structured, and secure workplace to prevent accidents and ensure employee safety.
- Move shipments from trucks and transport items to the Appy/Deli Department, lifting products that weigh around 25 lbs but occasionally up to 50 lbs.
- Routine task involves lifting, pulling, pushing, and turning merchandise of 25 lbs, occasionally up to 50 lbs.
- Adhere to the Company's shrinkage protocols specific to managing operations in the Appy/Deli Department.
- Operate equipment only when all safety precautions are in position and working effectively.

- Prevent the accumulation of debris and spills on the floor.

- Eliminate debris at the designated dumping ground.
- Handle the cardboard recycling process by operating the baler efficiently.
- Adjust prices as per the instructions given by the Department Manager.

- Introduce customers to the ongoing promotions that support various charitable causes.

- Supervise the inventory of cleaning products and sanitizing solutions, and inform the manager when supplies need replenishing following the established guidelines.
- Perform all tasks aligning with the Local, State, and Federal guidelines concerning the Appy/Deli operations.

- Follow the QA protocols for hand hygiene and utilize disposable gloves while preparing food.
- Carry out responsibilities following the Company's HAZCOM initiative and comply with manufacturer's guidelines on the appropriate and secure handling of chemical substances.
- Make sure to participate in all departmental training courses.
