As a Grocery Sales Associate, your focal point revolves around delivering top-notch customer experience by actively engaging in pricing, stocking, facing, and rotating merchandise in the Grocery Department. Your responsibilities extend to preserving a neat, secure, and well-managed work environment, managing inventory levels proficiently, and upholding adherence to company regulations and safety guidelines for the department's optimum performance.

Responsibilities of Grocery Sales Associate:

• Establish a safe and organized work environment by upholding cleanliness and orderliness.
• Clean and disinfect workspaces and equipment according to sanitation and QA regulations.
• Avoid any spills, clutter, or obstacles on the floor to maintain safety.
• Extend a courteous welcome to every customer and offer them timely, friendly assistance and support.
• Comply with safety protocols when operating machinery.
• Ensure shelves and displays are consistently stocked, faced, and displayed in an appealing manner.
• Check that discounted merchandise is visibly labeled to stimulate sales.
• Abide by sanctioned steps for receiving, dating with codes, storing, and labeling the costs of products.
• Comply with Company rules regarding the treatment of faulty or returnable items.
• Stay knowledgeable about pricing and the distribution of products within the store.
• Harness the power of CGO technology and handheld devices to manage inventory efficiently and reorder items when required.
• Stay compliant with Company policies by precisely recording markdowns, spoilage, and consumption within the store.
• It is important to stick to the proper rotation procedures and consistently monitor the sell-by dates, particularly for perishable goods.
• Ensure the grocery storage area is well-maintained, orderly, and equipped for the subsequent shift.
• Empty trucks of their contents and securely arrange products in designated storage areas using carts, U-boats, and jacks.
• Execute the Company's regulations for block and facial installations effectively.
• Keep track of price tags and make price adjustments as required.
• Follow safety protocols when using balers, compactors, and hand jacks while operating equipment.
• Promptly inform the Department Manager or Store Management about any equipment-related issues.
• Understand and comply with the Company's regulations regarding shrink prevention and inventory oversight.
• Aid in coordinating team activities and daily tasks alongside the Department Manager.
• Abide by the rules and regulations stipulated by local, state, and federal entities governing the operations of grocery stores.
• Obey the Company's rules regarding clothing and grooming, including wearing the prescribed uniform and exhibiting the name badge.
• Execute tasks in alignment with QA hand washing policies and wear gloves when coming into contact with food.
• Conclude all department-specific training programs.
• Adhere to the guidelines of ShopRite's Service Priorities: Safety, Friendliness, Presentation, and Efficiency in all tasks.
• Remain in the department throughout the allotted shift, even if it exceeds 8 hours.
• Be prompt and maintain a regular attendance schedule.
• Extend work hours as per assignment.
• Engage in cohesive group work with your team members.
• Follow through with any additional tasks as needed.

Qualifications of Grocery Sales Associate:

• Must be 18 years or older to operate balers, hi-lo's, power jacks, and slicing machines.
• Ability to read, write, speak, analyze, interpret, and understand English proficiently.
• Ability to perform basic math calculations.
• Ability to stand and walk for the entire duration of a scheduled shift.
• Ability to bend, twist, reach, push, pull, and regularly lift 25 lbs., and occasionally lift up to 60 lbs.
• Ability to work with fresh, dried, or processed food products and spices without allergic reactions.
• Ability to tolerate cleaning agents and dust as part of routine duties.
• Ability to climb ladders to access overhead racking or storage areas.
• Ability to interact with customers in a friendly and helpful way.
• Ability to work cooperatively with team members and follow all scheduling and attendance policies.
