Your responsibilities will include delivering quick and friendly service, helping customers with queries and special requests, and efficiently operating a cash register while adhering to related duties. Alongside this, you may also be involved in wrapping products, assisting with drive-thru or pick-up services, and ensuring merchandise is replenished as necessary. Responsibilities of Checkout Checker:

• Ensures speedy, effective, and personable customer assistance by showing empathy, attentiveness, and patience in each customer encounter, recognizing customers as the primary individuals in the store.
• Offers a friendly greeting and maintains a cheerful demeanor when interacting with customers, whether it be within the employee's designated zone or in other areas within the store.
• Puts in the effort to learn the names of clients and uses this information to personalize interactions.
• Helps clients find specific merchandise, retrieves items that are difficult to reach, aids in lifting or shifting weighty products, records and conveys customer recommendations, and undertakes various tasks to enrich the retail encounter.
• Works collectively with coworkers to secure customer approval and a cheerful work ambiance.
• Performs cash register duties effectively and scans products as required.
• The tasks include redeeming promotional coupons, food stamps, and WIC checks, issuing rain checks, accepting payments in the form of cash, checks, or credit cards, processing credit card transactions, in-store charges, calculating discounts, providing correct change, and issuing receipts to customers.
• Handles packaging of goods, hands over parcels to clients, and aids courtesy team members as requested. Resolves customer queries and problems, then liaises with the relevant staff for further actions.
• Demonstrates an understanding of and compliance with guidelines governing the sale of tobacco, alcohol, and lottery tickets at the local, state, and corporate levels.
• Ensures that all WIC and food stamp policies at the local, state, and federal levels are followed accordingly.
• The importance lies in being aware of the value, reference codes, unit divisions, and specifications of items being purchased.
• Engages in stocking activities, rotates merchandise, conducts shelf maintenance, interprets shelf markers, possesses knowledge of product placement within the store and storage space, and offers customer assistance in finding items.
• Recognizes the immediate surroundings to cater to customer needs and ensure the safety and security of the store.
• Articulates information in a precise manner using the intercom or telephone system.
• Assesses the weekly store ad to track variations in prices and special offers.
• Ensures the register area is clean, prepares and ensures availability of necessary supplies, reports any cash discrepancies in the register, and assists in maintaining the store's presentation.
• Matches the totals displayed on the cash register with the currency present in the register to validate balances at the start and finish of the work shift, where appropriate.
• Capable of giving customers refunds in cash or issuing credit notes for returned goods or pointing them in the right direction.
• Shows proficiency in observing and following sanitation practices and upholds a clean and well-kept workspace.
• Maintains rigorous adherence to department and corporate protocols concerning personal hygiene and clothing. Adheres faithfully to company policies and individual store regulations.
• Regularly attends work at the designated times.
• Part of the additional responsibilities includes supporting store management as needed, understanding expiration dates on perishable goods, replacing register tape and ribbons, assisting in other store departments, and fulfilling other job responsibilities and special projects as required.

Qualifications of Checkout Checker:

• Education and experience are not mandatory for this role.
• Proficiency in implementing detailed instructions appropriately
• Capacity for carrying out arithmetic computations
• Understanding and executing instructions accurately, as well as noting down identifying particulars, is important.

• Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force frequently
• Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force constantly
