Job Summary of Grocery Store Manager:
As a Grocery Store Manager, you will be tasked with overseeing the operations of the Grocery Department on a daily basis. Your responsibilities will include managing stock levels, ensuring proper product rotation, and maintaining a well-organized and clean department. Furthermore, you will be responsible for supervising, training, and scheduling employees, delivering outstanding customer service, and ensuring compliance with company policies, safety requirements, and merchandising objectives.
Responsibilities of Grocery Store Manager:
- Greet all patrons and offer them immediate, courteous assistance and service.
- Superintend, educate, and encourage the development of Grocery Department team members.
- Helping out with the recruitment and onboarding of new department Associates, involving tasks like interviewing applicants, choosing candidates, and providing training.
- Adhere to a strict adherence to department and organizational policies while fostering open communication channels.
- Structure work plans for various departments to ensure the realization of labor and productivity objectives.
- Align staffing resources with estimated sales and customer service demands.
- Manage accurate inventory levels by consistently placing orders, receiving deliveries, and stocking grocery items.
- Monitor the unloading and positioning of deliveries, ensuring that products are rotated and stored properly.
- Double-check that the merchandising and signage within the department meet the company's standards and promotional schemes.
- Improve control department performance by implementing accurate inventory practices and ensuring the proper management of spoiled or damaged goods.
- Stay in line with all health and safety protocols pertaining to grocery operations.
- Ensure the department maintains cleanliness, orderliness, and safety at all times.
- Oversee the operation of refrigeration systems and other machinery to confirm their proper functioning and immediately report any issues identified.
- Partner with store management and other teams to support overall store goals.
- Respond promptly and in a professional manner to customer inquiries, concerns, or complaints.
- Recommend the endorsement of current charitable campaigns and initiatives to engage with both customers and Associates.
- Engage with and keep department equipment in working order; report equipment problems appropriately.
- Execute all tasks with a focus on ShopRite's key service goals: Safety, Providing excellent service, Maintaining a professional appearance, and Working efficiently.
- Stay on your feet and walk during a designated work schedule that might extend past 8 hours daily.
- Handle frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, and rotating of merchandise, with weights ranging from 25 lbs. to occasionally 60 lbs.
- Consistently attend and be punctual in your timetable.
- Be flexible with your hours and be willing to work overtime as requested.
- Handle any additional responsibilities provided.
Qualifications of Grocery Store Manager:
- Must be 18 years or older to operate balers, hi-los, power jacks, and slicing machines.
- Previous supervisory or management experience in grocery or retail environment preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to proficiently read, write, speak, analyze, and interpret the English language.
- Ability to perform basic math and operate department equipment.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, reach, push, and pull for the duration of the shift.
- Ability to tolerate dust and cleaning agents during routine housekeeping duties.
- Ability to work in varying temperatures and conditions including refrigerated areas.
- Ability to work all assigned schedules and comply with time and attendance policies.
- Ability to interact with customers and team members in a professional and helpful manner.
