Cart Collector

Job Summary of Cart Collector:

As a Cart Collector at ShopRite, you will deliver a great customer experience by collect/return carts/carriages from the parking lot and assist customers with their groceries as required. This role supports the efficiency of the front-end operations by promoting cleanliness, order, and excellent service.

Responsibilities of Cart Collector:

• Collect empty shopping carts from designated areas in the parking lot and return them to the store’s cart holding areas.
• Maintain a clean, neat, organized, and safe work/shopping environment both inside and outside the store.
• Remove debris from carts before returning them to the store.
• Assist customers with loading groceries into their vehicles when requested.
• Greet all customers and provide them with prompt, courteous service and assistance.
• Handle damaged or return-to-stock products according to company policy, with attention to perishable items and expiration dates.
• Promote for sale any current charitable campaigns to customers.
• Check prices and be knowledgeable about the location of products in the store.
• Report any equipment issues or hazards to management immediately.
• Dress and groom according to company policy, including wearing the required uniform, name badge, and hair restraint if applicable.
• Perform duties in accordance with QA hand washing standards and use gloves when handling food.
• Follow all local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to the front-end operation.
• Understand and follow all company rules, policies, safety standards, and sanitation procedures.
• Utilize and maintain equipment as required by the department.
• Perform all duties in accordance with ShopRite service priorities: Safety, Friendliness, Presentation, and Efficiency.
• Stand and walk for the duration of scheduled shift, which may exceed 8 hours per day.
• Regularly lift, push, pull, and rotate merchandise up to 25 lbs., and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
• Maintain punctual and regular attendance.
• Work overtime as assigned.
• Work cooperatively with others and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications of Cart Collector:

• Anyone under 18 is prohibited from working with balers, hi-los, power jacks, and slicing machines.
• Proficiency in English involves the aptitude to comprehend, express, and interpret information with accuracy.
• Aptitude for completing basic math tasks.
• Essential duties include the capability to stand, bend, twist, reach, push, and pull without breaks during the work shift.
• Aptitude for completing tasks outside for extended periods, adapting to different weather conditions.
• Capability to connect with customers in an amiable and helpful way.
• Capacity to endure dust exposure and the use of cleaning agents during routine cleaning responsibilities.
• Ability to honor all scheduled work hours and adhere to time and attendance regulations.
