The Grocery Store Manager is integral to the store's profitability and smooth operation, overseeing the training and supervision of all department employees.
Responsibilities of Grocery Store Manager:

- Maintains compliance with company protocols for phone etiquette and actively engages with customers on the sales floor, supervising employees and tending to departmental needs for a minimum of 75% of their shift.
- Educating employees on providing exceptional customer service through training sessions and enforcing accountability measures for their actions.
- Checking that the staff members have the necessary food safety certifications and registration as per state and county regulations.
- The Grocery Store Manager is responsible for ensuring that the store is meeting and/or exceeding expectations in the following areas:
- The correlation between sales figures and labor hours represented in the Sales per Labor Hour Ratio
- Standard Ticket Price, Customer Quantity, and Cost of Goods Sold for Produce Merchandise
- EBITDA
- Verifies that product sourcing is carried out from the proper vendors to secure the applicable discounts and protect profit margins.
- Secures compliance with company expectations regarding in-stock conditions
- Keeping an eye on the diversity of products supplied, which involves:
- Consistent monitoring of departments to retain high-performing products and discontinue those that are not selling well
- It is a requirement of company policy to introduce new products on a regular basis.
- Abides by the company's stocking and rotation standards for perishable items.
- Markdowns are regulated according to the company's prescribed standards.
- Responsible for supporting the Store Manager in recruiting, educating, and supervising all store workers as outlined by company regulations.
- Provides training to personnel, delegates tasks, and ensures task accountability.
- Validates the accuracy, thoroughness, and alignment with store requirements of both master and daily schedules. Ensures schedules are posted in a timely manner and assigns daily tasks based on company task sheets.
- Cooperates with department supervisors to assign personnel for tasks on a day-to-day basis.
- Educates and oversees the staff to promote a unified store image and provide assistance to customers throughout the establishment.
- Collaborates with department heads to provide employees with training in multiple areas to complete various tasks.
- Partners with staff to ensure adequate product knowledge to meet customers' needs, training staff on where to find answers to customer questions by utilizing store resources.
- Assists the Store Manager in the completion and implementation of staff performance evaluations in coordination with department managers. Supports in approving salary increments where required.
- Interviews and selects new hires in coordination with department managers to fulfill the store's workforce demands.
- Handles performance and disciplinary concerns in a timely and suitable manner, with the involvement of Human Resources when necessary.
- Sustains clear and explicit communication with store personnel by assisting in leading monthly staff meetings and distributing company announcements and updates.
- Responsible for overseeing compliance with safety regulations at all times.

- Tasked with supporting the Store Manager in instructing, mentoring, and developing the store workforce.

- Carries out operational duties proficiently, covering tasks such as managing daily schedules, checklists, and opening and closing procedures.

- Wraps up the DSR and Manager's Cash efficiently and accurately.
- Supports department managers by responding to calls during work hours and coordinating coverage for breaks when needed.
- Managing business disruptions that may arise, including addressing loitering concerns, handling solicitation matters, responding to sudden weather emergencies, and ensuring appropriate use of restroom facilities.
- Abides by a work schedule that is established based on the demands of the store, encompassing evening and weekend shifts, and a total of 45 hours per week.
- Provides mentoring to employees on being encouraging of choices determined by the home office, pays attention to directives from headquarters, and fulfills responsibilities accurately.
- Reviews and adheres to correspondence (memorandums, facsimiles, electronic mails) from headquarters while at home.
- Maintains a level of adaptability to fulfill work demands effectively.

Qualification of Grocery Store Manager:
- High school diploma or GED required 1-2 years management experience in grocery and/or related retail experience, natural foods industry a plus.
- Capable of effectively juggling evolving priorities.
- Demonstrating the ability to satisfy state and county laws by completing essential food safety training and passing mandatory exams to obtain certifications.
- Having forklift certification is a prerequisite for operating the equipment.
- Stay in compliance by keeping your food safety certifications up to date through ongoing education and registering with the necessary agency if applicable.
- Demonstrates a sense of immediacy in task completion and maintains strong organizational capabilities.
- Shows mastery in providing excellent customer service.
