Store Grocery Attendant

Role and Responsibilities:

As a Store Grocery Attendant at Giant Food, you will ensure shelves are well-stocked, orderly, and visually appealing to create a seamless shopping experience. You will rotate across various departments including produce, dairy, frozen, and general grocery, supporting smooth store operations and assisting customers as needed.

• Stock shelves, displays, and endcaps to maintain product availability.
• Follow FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures to ensure product quality and freshness.
• Verify correct pricing and proper labeling of all products.
• Create and maintain promotional displays and signage according to management guidance.
• Assist customers in locating products and provide helpful information.
• Deliver friendly and informed customer service to enhance satisfaction.
• Resolve minor customer concerns or escalate issues to supervisors when required.
• Keep work areas clean and organized, including shelves, floors, and spill zones.
• Maintain backroom and storage areas in an orderly fashion.
• Notify management promptly of low-stock or out-of-stock items.
• Participate in inventory counts and routine audits.
• Check expiration dates and remove expired or damaged products.
• Collaborate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments.
• Support other departments as directed by store leadership.
• Contribute to overall store operations while promoting a cooperative team environment.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Minimum age of 16 years (18 for specific departments).
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.
• Previous experience in retail or grocery is a plus but not mandatory.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Comfortable working in refrigerated areas such as dairy or frozen sections.
• Availability to work flexible shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Basic math and reading comprehension abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in grocery, retail, or other customer-facing roles.
• Familiarity with inventory management or merchandising procedures.
• Ability to collaborate effectively within a team-focused environment.
