Role and Responsibilities:

As a Deli Counter Clerk at Brookshire Grocery Company, you will provide friendly, knowledgeable assistance to customers while preparing and maintaining deli products. You will ensure cleanliness, uphold food safety standards, and contribute to a positive shopping experience.

• Welcome customers, take deli orders, and offer product suggestions to enhance their shopping experience.
• Prepare deli items, including sliced meats, cheeses, salads, and sandwiches according to company standards.
• Maintain product freshness, rotate inventory, and create visually appealing displays.
• Adhere to food safety, sanitation, and hygiene procedures consistently.
• Clean and sanitize deli counters, equipment, slicers, and work areas regularly.
• Assist with receiving, inspecting, and stocking deli products, monitoring expiration dates.
• Process transactions accurately and efficiently at the deli register.
• Work collaboratively with team members to ensure smooth operations during busy periods.
• Promote deli specials, seasonal items, and in-store promotions to drive sales.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to improving customer service and department performance.

Required Skills and Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Prior deli, food service, or retail experience is helpful; training is provided.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills with a professional, approachable demeanor.
• Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while paying attention to detail.
• Basic math skills for pricing and transactions.
• Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 30 pounds, and handle physically demanding tasks.
• Understanding of food safety and sanitation procedures (training provided if needed).
