Receiving Specialist

Role and Responsibilities:

• Service (40%): Create an environment where customers and team members feel welcomed and valued. Manage Direct Store Delivery (DSD) processes, including ad plans, inventory monitoring, and merchandise alignment. Maintain the organization, cleanliness, and safety of the backroom, coolers, freezers, and supply depot areas. Accurately report invoice shortages, overages, and discrepancies to management.
• Financial (35%): Review and validate all invoices from third-party vendors. Complete daily and weekly administrative tasks, including communications and required training. Monitor inventory and stocking conditions; report discrepancies promptly. Inspect received products for quality and accuracy. Assist in planning and organizing the inventory process. Manage supply inventory within budget and ensure approved supplies are available.
• Leadership (15%): Promote a culture of trust, respect, and teamwork by collaborating with department managers and associates. Support managers with inventory control, purchase summaries, and record-keeping. Adhere to all company policies and compliance standards.
• Compliance & Safety (10%): Enforce company standards for safety, sanitation, and productivity. Comply with USDA, Country of Origin Labeling (COOL), and Department of Agriculture regulations. Execute recalls and withdrawals promptly. Report unsafe conditions, risks, or illegal activities. Ensure wage and hour policies, safety protocols, and training requirements are followed. Maintain equipment in good repair.

Required Skills and Experience:

• No formal education required; High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• 3–6 years of supervisory or related experience in retail or grocery receiving preferred.
• Experience with inventory management, vendor relations, and invoice reconciliation preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Authorization to work in the United States or ability to obtain same.
• Successful completion of pre-employment drug testing and background check.
• Strong customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Proficiency with store operations systems, including inventory management tools.
• Basic math skills for handling invoices and data.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage stressful situations calmly and effectively.

Physical & Environmental Requirements:

• Regular standing, walking, and manual dexterity across various flooring types.
• Frequent reaching, lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 50 lbs.; occasional lifting or pulling up to 250 lbs.
• Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb ladders or stairs up to 30 feet.
• Exposure to indoor/outdoor environments including cold, freezing, heated, and humid conditions.
• Potential exposure to slippery floors, loud noise, hazardous equipment, and cleaning chemicals.
• Required use of PPE such as gloves, goggles, and back braces.

Work Schedule & Travel:

• Varied shifts required based on store operational needs.
• Occasional travel for training or meetings; no overnight travel typically required.
