- Provides speedy, efficient, and amiable customer service by demonstrating empathy, attentiveness, and patience during all customer interactions, placing customers at the forefront of the store.
- Greets and interacts with customers in a personable manner, whether it happens within the employee's assigned department or anywhere else within the store.
- Works towards remembering customers' names and using them as a way to connect with them.
- Ensures customers are directed to the items they seek, retrieves products that are inaccessible, assists with heavy lifting, notes and communicates customer suggestions, and executes additional responsibilities to improve the shopping experience.
- Collaborates with peers to ensure customer satisfaction and a friendly work environment is maintained.
- Operates the cash register with precision and scans items when applicable.
- This entails redeeming promotional coupons, food stamps, and WIC checks, issuing rain checks when necessary, processing various forms of payment such as cash, checks, and credit cards, completing credit card transactions, handling in-store charges, calculating discounts, giving back change accurately, and providing customers with receipts.
- Packaging merchandise, delivering packages to clients, and supporting courtesy team members as necessary. Addresses customer inquiries and concerns, following up with the appropriate staff members for resolution.
- Follows local, state, and organizational protocols related to the sale of tobacco, liquor, and lottery tickets.
- Guarantees compliance with WIC and food stamp guidelines mandated by various levels of government.
- Knowing the monetary worth, lookup figures, departmental codes, and specifications of received items is crucial.
- Undertakes stock responsibilities, oversees merchandise rotation, ensures shelf organization, interprets shelf information, demonstrates awareness of item locations within the store and back room, and provides customer support in locating products.
- Evaluates the nearby environment to understand customer demands and maintain a secure store environment.
- Transmits messages clearly and audibly via the intercom or telephone.
- Reviews the weekly promotional flyer to take note of any changes in prices and sale items.
- Maintains cleanliness at the register, ensures there is an ample stock of supplies ready for immediate use, reports any errors in cash amounts in the till, and supports in preserving the store's aesthetic.
- Compares the cash register totals with the currency in the register to authenticate balances at the commencement and completion of the work shift, if applicable.
- Proficient in processing cash refunds or issuing credit memorandums for returned merchandise or guiding customers accordingly.
- Possesses a thorough understanding of sanitation procedures and maintains a consistently tidy work area.
- Abides by strict adherence to department and corporate standards for personal hygiene and dress. Adheres closely to company policies and specific store guidelines.
- Is prompt in their attendance for work shifts.
