Job Description:

In the position of The Cash Controller, the central duty is to provide a friendly, quick, and accurate checkout experience for our patrons. This includes processing purchases, managing payments, and advertising BJ's membership opportunities, all while keeping the front end area clean and organized.

Requirements:

• Having a solid grasp of elementary math and the ability to handle cash is desired.
• Those with background experience in cashiering, retail, or customer service are favored.
• Proficient in engaging with customers and communicating effectively.
• Proficient in working swiftly and effectively in a high-volume environment.

Core responsibilities, main tasks, and key accountabilities:

• Ensures a high level of member satisfaction through friendly greetings, efficient purchase processing, and polite responses to questions.
• Utilizes the POS software to scan merchandise accurately for proper pricing and inventory supervision.
• Manages transactions involving cash, checks, credit cards, and mobile payment options.
• Explains the benefits offered by memberships, including renewals and upgrades through schemes like BJ’s Loyalty and EASY Renewal programs.
• Makes sure that all transactions are accurately processed, including providing receipts and correct change.
• Offers assistance to customers at self-scan and pay stations, troubleshooting straightforward technical issues.
• Manages the cleanliness of the front-end vicinity, cash registers, and member payment areas.
• Stays up to date with promotions and advertisements to keep members informed about savings and special promotions.
• Adhering to all club policies and procedures in order to maintain high operational standards and meet member expectations.
• Executes additional tasks as given, which may involve supporting various departments as necessary.
• Being present on a regular and anticipated basis is a critical aspect of this position.

Environmental Job Conditions:

• Continuous standing and walking on firm floors.
• Infrequent stooping, reaching, and carrying loads of up to 30 lbs (heavier items assisted by others).
• Mainly situated indoors with little exposure to temperature changes or loud noises.
• Intermittent contact with cleaning solutions.
