Role and Responsibilities:

As a Checkout Clerk, you will be the face of the store, ensuring a smooth, accurate, and welcoming checkout process. Your role is essential to enhancing customer satisfaction and supporting day-to-day operations. Key responsibilities include:

• Warmly greet customers and provide courteous, professional service.
• Assist with purchases, answer questions, and quickly resolve issues.
• Accurately scan items and process transactions through the POS system.
• Handle cash, card, and other payments responsibly and securely.
• Issue receipts, manage returns/exchanges, and correctly apply discounts.
• Balance the cash drawer at the beginning and end of shifts.
• Bag groceries properly while following safety and food-handling guidelines.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and stocked checkout area.
• Support overall store cleanliness, including sanitizing checkout stations and carts.
• Work closely with teammates and assist with restocking or inventory tasks when needed.
• Follow all safety and sanitation policies, reporting hazards immediately.

Required Skills and Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• Experience as a cashier or in customer service is a plus, but not required.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with a positive attitude.
• Basic math skills for handling transactions and change accurately.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced setting with attention to detail.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills.
• Capable of standing for long periods and lifting up to 25 pounds.
• Comfortable using POS systems (training provided).
