Our Bakery Chef is a key player in making sure our pastries look and taste amazing. In addition to providing unparalleled guest service, you'll create beautiful and delicious art for our guests and provide the sweets that will be the hit of their parties. As a Team Member, you'll be part of a team that emphasizes building lifelong relationships with our customers by focusing on understanding and exceeding their needs. As a member of the Bakery team, your primary responsibility will be preparing and decorating the products and cakes in the department to ensure only the freshest are available.

Job Requirements:

• Requisite Experience: Adequate completion of a job-specific skills evaluation; practical experience of 6 to 12 months or successful graduation from the Giant Eagle Apprenticeship program
• A high school certificate is not obligatory for achieving this educational goal
• 50-Pound Maximum for Lifting Obligation
• Aged at least 18 years old is a prerequisite

Job Responsibilities:

• Shift cakes from the preparation station to the sales area to ensure that tables and display cases are adequately filled with confectionery.
• Observe the required measures to support the store in achieving its out-of-stock percentage objectives.
• By applying merchandising principles, businesses can elevate their sales performance and impress customers at the same time.
• Respond to personalized inquiries from guests received via phone calls and in direct interactions.
• Check the sales floor regularly to maintain the quality of the products being sold by ensuring their dates and condition are up to standards.
• Keep a daily record of known losses.
• Put safety first in every facet of our operations, prioritizing the well-being of our staff, visitors, and inventory.
• Provide exemplary customer service by greeting customers and ensuring they are able to locate the products they are looking for. Bakery Team Members are also expected to have sufficient knowledge to answer questions and make suggestions to our customers.
• Spark enthusiasm in your team members and visitors by expressing a genuine love for food and a determination to surpass standards in offering exceptional culinary delights.
• Adhere to the specified measures for handling merchandise and tools in compliance with the regulations of food safety and safety to maintain a safe shopping environment.
• Follow safety and cleanliness standards by regularly cleaning equipment, tables, tools, floors, and other relevant areas.
• Prepare and embellish products for the Bakery displays and cases, rotating the items and ensuring compliance with code dating regulations to provide only fresh products for sale.
• Implement proper safety and sanitation methods, emergency response plans, steritech procedures, safe lifting practices, and housekeeping routines to ensure compliance with department standards.
• Document special orders for Bakery items accurately to meet customer expectations and satisfaction.
• Enforce departmental procedures, daily setups, order processing, understanding of copyright guidelines, and proper product rotation.
• Always stay abreast of the latest product information and procedural guidelines, covering aspects like categorized product knowledge, customized orders, cake varieties, portion control instructions, seasonal offerings, and color blending techniques.
• Beautify cakes with icing applied from spatulas and piping bags, creating intricate designs.
• Organize the icing and materials for all cakes and other decorated items by thoroughly reading recipes, accurately measuring ingredients, and effectively blending the mixture.
• Support in ensuring the smooth running of Bakery backroom, cooler, and freezer by handling deliveries efficiently.
• Handle a range of equipment in the department, such as mixers, scales, airbrush guns, knives, cut-resistant gloves, and safety footwear for protection.
• Provide assistance in other fields as necessary.
