Job Summary of Assistant Meat Manager:

The associate supports daily operations by ensuring excellent customer service, managing inventory. This role involves merchandising, inventory control, and maintaining product quality and freshness while promoting a positive and customer-focused environment.

Job Duties and Responsibilities of Assistant Meat Manager:

• Promotes excellent customer relations by instilling positive customer-focused behavior with associates. Smiles and greets customers, answers customer questions, and helps resolve concerns in a polite and professional manner.
• Takes customer orders over the phone or in person, creating the finished decorated product in a timely fashion with a pleasant attitude.
• Ensures fresh quality merchandise by using proper product handling techniques. Helps control damages and minimize product losses according to Weis Markets procedures and standards. Must be able to cut and trim product.
• Assists Meat Manager in day-to-day functions such as merchandising, ad execution, associate engagement, and customer service. Performs duties of Meat Manager in their absence.
• Coordinates sales and merchandising plans to ensure proper stock levels and freshness, monitors competitor activity regarding pricing, quality, and signage.
• Oversees department inventories by tracking weekly sales reports, product orders, and supplies to ensure successful period-end physical inventory.
• Assists with scheduling department associates, participates in training, and delegates work assignments to maximize department profitability and performance.
• Manages inventory levels and reviews orders to ensure product quantities meet customer demand, maintains backroom organization, and ensures shelf replenishment efforts are met.
• Checks and verifies all department deliveries and invoices to ensure accurate billing. Helps unload merchandise and transport it to sales floor or storage area.
• Controls department expenses by improving operations, controlling labor costs, and reducing losses from damages, spoiled products, and shrinkage.
• Keeps meat department cases well-stocked and appealing to meet customer demand. Resolves customer concerns in a prompt and courteous manner.
• Sets up displays, rotates products, and ensures that meat is fresh, in saleable condition, with proper prices and signage.
• May grind and cut certain meats and poultry, weigh and wrap merchandise, applying stickers with correct price and weight.
• Maintains cleanliness in the department, follows cleaning schedules and department guidelines to meet health and OSHA requirements. Disposes of trash properly.
• Ensures smooth workflow within the department by cooperating with co-workers and superiors. Strives to improve job performance continuously.
• Responsible for utilizing all company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including cut-resistant gloves, safety cutters, and company-sponsored footwear.
• May also assist in other departments as needed.

Qualifications and Experience of Assistant Meat Manager:

• High School diploma or GED required. Associate or bachelor's degree in business or food service-related field desirable.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in management in a retail, restaurant, or supermarket environment. Meat management experience preferred.
