Job Summary of Retail Grocery Associate:

The Retail Grocery Associate contributes to the effective operation and profitability of the Grocery/Bulk and Dairy/Frozen departments by assisting the department managers. This role is also responsible for organizing, maintaining, and restocking the bulk foods area to deliver a clean, attractive, and well-stocked shopping space.

Responsibilities of Retail Grocery Associate:

• Assisting department managers with placing orders for grocery, bulk, dairy, and frozen items, and overseeing accurate inventory levels.
• Assisting department managers in effectively managing margin, cost of goods sold, and overall department profitability by minimizing shrinkage and maximizing the efficiency of purchasing practices.
• Assuring that the condition of all in-stock items meets the company's established criteria.
• Offering and subsequently monitoring distinctive orders.
• Retail displays that include shelves, endcaps, and interactive setups.
• Aiding in overseeing and engaging in tagging, displaying, rearranging, keeping clean, marking down, restocking, and storing extra items.
• Supporting in the training and oversight of department employees, including task allocation and monitoring.
• Executing live and static presentations.
• Assisting department managers in handling performance issues affecting the department.
• Playing a role in the opening and shutting down procedures of the store, which involve responsibilities like compiling the Daily Sales Report (DSR) and managing cash transactions, in addition to completing cashier end-of-day tasks.
• Managing tasks related to operating the cash register, such as backup cashier duties, processing customer refunds, resolving customer issues, and filling in for other employees during register shifts, including breaks as scheduled.
• Upholding the safety and security measures for customers and employees.
• Addressing customer concerns in adherence to company standards, ensuring that responses include health-promoting statements or nutritional endorsements as per guidelines.
• Persistently boosting product expertise.
• Utilizing SAP and inventory management software, sending emails, and making use of other IS programs as required.
• The position demands availability for shifts based on the store's requirements, potentially including evenings, weekends, and holidays. It involves a regular schedule of five days weekly, with a workload of 40 hours, and mandatory attendance at store meetings.
• The manager on duty responsibilities for this position are limited and do not encompass the overall manager on duty duties for the store.

Qualifications of Retail Grocery Associate:

• Individuals with a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent certification are preferred.
• The ideal candidates will have at least one year of experience in a grocery or retail environment, with a preference for those with knowledge of natural foods.
• Candidates who have one year of experience leading teams are preferred.
• Fulfilling the necessary criteria for food safety training and certifications as outlined by regulations and ensuring ongoing abidance by maintaining up-to-date and registered certifications if needed.
• Ability to juggle shifting priorities and adhere to the immediate objective.
• Have a strong sense of immediacy when wrapping up tasks on hand.
• Exhibit exceptional customer service aptitude.
• Exceptionally methodical with a strong emphasis on precision.
• Skill in understanding instructions and completing tasks accordingly.
• The candidate must possess cashier skills, including the ability to accurately count and manage cash transactions.
• Adept at working with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

Physical requirements of Retail Grocery Associate:

• Must have the ability to constantly lift or carry up to 10 lbs., frequently lift or carry 11-20 lbs., and occasionally lift or carry 21-50 lbs. Must also have the ability to occasionally lift or carry 51-100 lbs. with a team lift.
• Must have the ability to frequently push or pull up to 15 lbs. and occasionally push or pull 16-100 lbs.
