Role and Responsibilities:

The Cashier is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service in a friendly, courteous, and efficient manner while accurately processing transactions. As the first point of contact for many customers, you will play a key role in creating a positive shopping experience. Responsibilities include handling purchases, maintaining a clean work area, and supporting overall store operations.

• Greet customers at checkout and provide friendly, professional service.
• Assist customers with purchases, answer questions, and resolve concerns promptly.
• Accurately scan and process transactions using the POS system.
• Handle cash, credit/debit card, and other payments responsibly and efficiently.
• Issue receipts, process returns and exchanges, and apply discounts or promotions correctly.
• Ensure pricing accuracy and balance the cash drawer at the start and end of shifts.
• Bag items appropriately and follow safety procedures for hazardous or perishable goods.
• Maintain a clean, organized checkout area and stock necessary supplies.
• Assist with store cleanliness, including sanitizing checkout lanes and carts.
• Collaborate with team members and support other store tasks such as restocking and inventory checks.
• Follow all safety and sanitation standards and report hazards immediately.

Required Skills and Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• Previous cashier or customer service experience a plus but not required.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills with a friendly demeanor.
• Basic math skills for handling transactions and change accurately.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 25 pounds.
• Familiarity with POS systems (training provided if needed).
